Noob question of the day..203 range box

My cosin is trying to take it a part. He said the range box is giving him a hard time. He said he cant figure out the shifter. Other then that the range box is off. So how do you do it? He is a two hours away from me so, just seeing who knows so i can pass it on. thanks guys mike

Ummm ... there's the big bloody rod, maybe 1/2" diameter, which is fun to remove ... or do you mean the shift lever?

are you doing a ORD 203 -205 you do not need that part that works the 4 wd the other part is the h/l lever i just cut my old 1 off with bolt cuters ans the low range box slid off nice

So he can just cut it off and be done with it. Cool yea, he found a great deal and got three trucks for 1800. thx

That sounds like the great big rod. You don't need it for a doubler, so you can remove it. On the one I just took apart -- apparently there are two styles -- it took some finagling, but eventually I got the big rod, and the elbow holding it in to give up.

I can send pix if the NWF link isn't helpful, as I know what I'm saying to you won't make much sense, especially to your buddy

**EDIT** It's step 7 of the NWF doc. Lemme know if you need more detail on what I did, as I can send pix ... but if I can figger it out, most people oughta be able to
