NOOB Question

Keep in mind that you don't just need blazers to pick from....you can find things from the same era of pickups and Suburbans, too. Like 1980 to 1991......a pretty large window of parts. :waytogo:

Because you mentioned brakes and discount parts you might consider the following too:
New front ball joints
New front axle bearings (in rotors)
New front axle shaft u-joints

This is a larger job for sure but if you take your rotors off, you might consider continuing and do the ball joints and axle shafts. Jack up each side and try and move the wheel side to side and up and down. Check for any movement in the ball joint area.

And so it begins..............

Well i pulled the brakes and rotors today then ordered the ball joints (another$170) i already had the U-joints so tomorrow when i get the ball joint press ill be putting it all back together

off roading is soooo much sweeter when you do your own work...:waytogo:

So the blazer is all put back together The next thing i really need to do is put some new tires on it any one from CA have any or know any one that is selling a decent set of 33" or 35" tires? Or is there any one interested in buying a set of pretty worn out 36" tires for cheap?

Yah i know i have been watching but there is not much out there right now and what is out there people think is gold lol and want pretty much retail

I also have another question when i drive down the road something makes a howling noise underneath my blazer I thought it might be the u joints so i checked them and the rear u joint was bad so i replaced it but the noise is still there? The noise is weird it is really loud when you are on the gas but when you let off and coast the noise pretty much goes away. Any thoughts of what it might be? (i am hoping its not the rear end going out)

It could be the rear end, actually most likely the rear end:dunno:

Have you checked the fluid an condition of the fluid in both front a rear diffs? That is the first thing to figure out!

Does it do it in 4WD? A guy i knew had a truck that made a noise in 2WD because the chain in the case was stretched so bad, in 4WD it would tighten up and stop the sound. Just something else to check...
