First breakage.
Went to Prairie city on thursday with the family. Just went up a few things, nothing major at all. Noticed pulling in driveway the jeep wanted to push forward isntead of turn, then a loud pop. thought maybe it was leafs moving around.
Did it next day on way to work, and i could get it to do it by turning left hard under power.
So i pulled the rear cover off and found these bits of joy.

So you gonna do an 8.8 or just throw some spiders in there for now?
Spiders for now.
Still unsure of 8.8 and rock it or hold out for waggy 44s front and rear

Cleaned up carrier while getting ready to stick new spiders in and found this. 
I have a spare d35 carrier that i got the spiders from. apparently i could get lucky and reuse stock shims and hope that backlash ends up less than .009 on the new carrier. I also would need new bearings.
I do not want to spend any more cash on this POS axle. So i put it all back together. No more wheeling for me untill i get something new. Im pissed.
Jeep will just take me to work a couple times a week and thats it.

You should be able to blow some talc on there to see where the crack really ends. I doubt it's the only one.
It runs about 1/2 inch down the inside of the hole for the crosspin as well. The crack on the inside part goes around about a 1/2 inch inside the carrier . Other side is clean.

Ah, wigggle bad.
Grill awesome, rear diff issues ,not so much. Hope you get it fixed asap. I need to take my jeep wheeling after I fix all its issues.
8.8 swap and be done. 8.8 > D44 in the Jeep world. Plus readily available c-clip elimination kits.
And that high pinion D30 front isn't a bad axle either. They seem to hold up well up to 35" tires.

Agreed. Jeep guy at my work did the 8.8 swap from an explorer, said it was easy and worthwhile. Added benefit is rear disc brakes too. His axle was $200, I think he spent $80 on other parts like brackets and what not.
