Aug 5th I took the family up North Meadow again, but this time we went solo and parked at the trailhead of Kid Lake and back packed up to Kid lake which was only 2 miles. However it was so steep, it took us awhile to get there.
When we got there and set up camp, it was 10pm and dark. We went to sleep and woke up to more rain. Most of the time we were there it rained. It was kind of a miserable trip. Trey did pretty good with the fishing when the rain had a few small gaps of clear sky’s.
We took a vote and everyone decided not to stay a second night. On the way back to the Blazer, we explored the old mining tram and a few short trails that branched off. Emily brought her metal detector and didn’t find much of a small size.
After getting back to the Blazer and loading it up, I blew a tire only 100 yards away from the North Meadow trailhead. Luckily a guy in a sweet blazer helped us out by letting us borrow one of his spare tires/rim.
EDIT: I was disgusted with how much trash was left at one of the campsites at Kid Lake. Full-size rigs are not allowed up there. Only 50” or smaller. I wish those kind of people would take their trash with them. In my mind, the ATV, side by side etc groups do more damage to the environment then full-size rigs because a lot of them just don’t have respect, have entitlement issues and think they can create trails at random.
