The aftermarket on 5 tons is a lot smaller than the 2.5tons... and they do indeed weigh a lot more.

Unless you are going HUGE on tires... there is no need for 5 tons.

And 10.88 gears? Thats a negative in my book, not a positive.

Just like the world of D60 ownership.....the cost to acquire the axle(s) is the cheap part of the swap.

All I know is, the strap, boom and I were all holding our breath until the Rocks were on the jack stands.

I had considered using 5 ton Rockwells for mine, until realizing their size after hauling them. This set had 6.17 gears.

The truck normally sat a bit higher in the rear.
