NOS questions

You must've used a lot of nitrous in that sandbox built plastigage motor you're so proud of, eh?

actually, the one engine with cast pistons i played with on n2o, ended up with a trio of 5.7s through the water jackets. the pistons let go, leaving the business end of the rods and the wrist pins alone with the bare cylinder bore. amazingly enough, none came through the oil pan, and nothing ever came off of the crank.

i havent used plastigage since i was a teenager. that's why i own a high quality set of micrometers, and a dial bore guage.

mike: the kit comes with a seperate fuel setup built into the plate, hence the questions about a seperate fuel pump...

I don't want to argue with you... i said i was gonna regear before the tires...If somehow that means for 35's then i've definetly missed something. i left it blank and it got filled with "your regearing for 35's"

Why do you think i gave power expectations? Maybe because i want to know if my internals, drivetrain, etc will handle it? or what kind of mods need to be done to handle it... or because somebody jumps in after reading one post and tells me it won't make that kind of power etc etc.

Beleive it or not i wheel as hard as anybody on here for my rigs abilities... its been all over this town and back about 20 times. but i wouldn't be using it on the trail while im in 4lo... it would be mud runs, hillclimbs where i need wheel speed, and a couple green lights now and then.

i guess my question for sniper is can i do this (100 shot) safely on 10:1?

I'd love to see your truck hit a Dyno. I've never heard someone toss around HP and torque numbers like you do. I don't even guess what my 383 is going to make anymore, its a stupid thought. It is the first performance motor I've built to my design, I can't begin to make claims and whatever anyone tells me, I simply don't care. I'm going to dyno the damn thing and find out for myself.
Ditto, except I'm one step ahead. Desk Top Dyno said I should make something like 355HP and 475ft lbs with my combo...yeah right...

When I ACTUALLY put it an a real intertia dyno it put out 200HP and 300ftlbs at the rear wheels. Thats about 315HP and a little over 400ft lbs at the crank. Not bad in my opinion.

My point is, people can jabber jaw all they wan't about what their combo "should" make....when the intertia wheel gets to movin' ....thats all that matters, and usually disapoints.

No one at all is questioning how hard you wheel...especially not me. You're a 17 year old high school kid, I'm sure you beat the crap 'outa the thing....

The point was that you have dual 10b's and 35" street tires. It's a matter of what you are limited to. I am fairly more built up than you, and had fun at Blazerfest with many of the obstacles...but I definantly couldn't hang with the serious trucks simply because my drivetain, tire size, and suspension isn't able to handle most of the tougher obstacles.

My point is that you have more than enough power for what your drivetrain will let you wheel in.

Personally i believe nitrous has no place in any vechicle, period. There are so many other ways to build/ produce power (although they may be more expensive) THAT NO ONE SHOULD USE IT. save your money and build a good motor. get good hp/tq all the time, not just when you push a button.

so your telling me this is worthless. guess we will pull it out since its so easy to make over 1800 hp naturally aspirated.

maybe some cars shouldnt have nitrous but when you need more you just need more lol

I'd amend the statement to say "I think 330 HP from a TBI fuel injection setup is pretty darn good" then I would agree with you. Now if you just say Fuel Injection... put down the crack and sober up. LS1s come with more then that stock, as do LQ9s, LS2s, and LS6s. If you think 330HP on fuel injection is ANYTHING to rave about, you need to relearn a lot of things. I'm looking forward to my next project and really want to build a Turbo LS1, I'd say somewhere in the neighborhood of 500HP to the wheels would do just fine.

Thanks man you said what I was gonna say.... I guess if we go by his statements the Hemi in Dodge trucks and the 6.0 in the Escalade are all "built" motors....

... I figured you had already heard me say 100 times that i wish i would have gone mpfi... and when i say 330 hp with FI I say it because for the power with fuel injection it was pretty cheap... Not because i thought it was the end all be all FI 350.

I get the feeling your putting words in my mouth.

High volume oil pump, 10:1 compression, hydraulic flat tappet, clevite bearings, double roller timing chain, high volume pan, and a few other things is what i'd consider the mildest form of built. Your acting like i called it the king of small blocks.

I too have "plans" for a aluminum sb screamer but it'll be a 427 pushing 600 hp naturally aspirated. (after i get out of the military)

Blazd88: dude that thing is sick... but i don't have 10k to drop on a drag car just yet. :D

But its got all the bells and whistles right?.... :p:

HELL.....JUST INSTALL THE DAMN THING AND DRIVE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT!!!!!!!

I'm not trying to put words anywhere, just make you aware of the ones that leave your mouth... or fingers. You may know what you mean, but we don't, type what you mean and it will all work out fine. Saying a very mild motor has "All the bells and whistles" is just an example.

Christ almighty, it's obvious you want to try it, so go friggin do it! If you don't want to hear dissenting comments on your idea, then don't post it on a message board.

Search the thread that Kid Jeffro started about building a 383..

That entertained me for about 10 min. I never post to his threads, but I always enjoy reading :haha: :haha:
