Not a Fitech-Now a Sniper 2 and boat anchor

I'm guessing a tooth is off of the pinion.
What axle do you have?
14 bolt

Looks like T case output flange.

Bolt 1-2 clearanced on the e brake assembly.
3 had turned some and was also clearances
4 was backing out loose and is wrecked all the way around.

To be honest, so far I haven't liked much about the High Angle Driveline 205 e-brake kit. I got it to work but it was a hassle.
You can barely get the bolts out from the flange before they hit the TCase. Then some other fastener on there clearly doesn't work with the radius of the 1350 flange.

Maybe I installed it wrong. I never found a way to clock the lever down from the floor or to install it with the lever facing the rear.

Been a while since I updated.

I went with a serpentine swap from a non Vortec 4.3 Brackets + an a/c compressor bypass pulley got me pretty close.

I couldn't keep my CS144, it doesn't sit low enough in the bracket to allow the tensioner pulley to get the belt tight. Any belt long enough to go around everything resulted in the tensioner pushing into the next piece of belt going towards the water pump.

I went with an AD244 1999-2007 5.7ish Alternator instead of the CS144. 130 amps, decent at idle, high 12s most of the rest of the time, I feel it's kind of borderline. I'll probably go to a higher amp version in the same case.

Best part of the upgrade was the belt traction for the power steering pump. No more moans, groans, chatter or whatever.

In April I went to the SMOR, Smoky Mountain Overland Rally. It was at the Dark Holler Off Road park. Not much to ride, but the camping and company made for a good trip.

Rode around the park a little, it's pretty small, probably not a bad setup for zipping around on a SXS though. I even won a CVT awning in the raffle.

This weekend I went out with the GA Trail Riders. We went to Golden Mountain Park in Sparta, TN. Had a good time with the group. It was pretty sloppy, rain on Friday, then lots more overnight. I bent some stuff.

This place could be the setting for the next Silent Hill game. It was some kind of travel destination in the 70s-80s. It had several pavilions, the kind you'd roller skate or ride a carousel in. There was a circle track that was fenced up, as well as a dried up bumper boat pond. The playground was painted in all primary colors, but was so worn out looking, I expected to see a guy with a machete and goalie mask in the shadows.

Had to break out the winch a few times.

This is the view as you pass between the racetrack and bleachers and one of the bunkhouses you can stay in.

Bent my tag, this is clearly going to be a theme.

Bent this wheel early on in the run on Saturday. It burped flat. I hammered it back in place later.

IMG_2042.jpg

About 20m after swapping the bent wheel out, the group stopped to check on a guy's fuel pump issue. We horsed around on a hill climb for a while. I skipped it as I was out of spares at the time. We grouped back up to head out for lunch and I rounded a turn and popped a bead loose in a foot of mud. I had to drag the truck down a hill to a bypass, then it was so messy I couldn't even make the turn to get off the trail. I winched myself about 40 feet to a flat spot so I could start working on the flat.

This was where I hammered the bent wheel true again, but I couldn't put it on because I had a stud come loose in the hub. One of the guys I was riding with helped me reseat the tire and we lit some brake cleaner and got it reseated. I drove out on it, and spent the rest of the afternoon dealing with the loose stud, a rain storm, and generally being covered head to toe in mud. The upside is that there was enough room to get vise grips on the stud so the nut could be removed and the stud pushed out. Well it just fell out. I kept it so I can see what's going on with it later. I found one more loose on the same hub.

I am not sure if this would help you, but here is the factory route for the belt.

Nice catch. I felt there was way to little clearance the whole time, but my brain couldn't make it work any other way. It doesn't make sense to have ribs against the water pump pulley, so this explains it.

I think if I'm looking at the op's pic right, the routing is sound, but the cs144 is sitting higher in the mount that the stock alternator would. That's going to bring the belt higher in relation to the tensioner, add length to the belt and change the angle/direction the belt is going to run in relation to the tensioner and the water pump.

I think the vortec 5.7's used the cs144 alternator so those brackets might want to go on your junkyard swap list if you want the belt fit like it should with no interference.

no look at his water pump . the ribs are on smooth . needs to be smooth to smooth . that pic from the fan shroud sticker shows it correct .

i have a cs144 style in my serp belt bracket no problems .

Well that's what I get for focusing on the on the alternator in the pic. Duh.

You're right, that was what the issue was when it was routed wrong.
I'll check it out thanks. I feel like the Vortecs had the AC compressor on top(drivers) but
With the corrected routing there is a lot of space now and I should be able to handle the height added by my CS144. hopefully I kept the brackets that I had started to fab for it.

I'm stuck on a conference call today and all I want to do is ditch it and go work on my truck.

@sweetk30 Have a pic of the bracket? Was it this motor? https://ck5.com/forums/threads/the-stubby-project-r-i-p.245582/page-8#post-2533987

@6872xtc What's the application (truck / year / engine) in that picture, because I think that's the upper radiator hose I need as well.

Thanks guys!

Made a bracket to wrap around the alternator to reach the top bolt and get it to the serpentine mount.

13.9-14.2 at idle versus 13.2. I'd see 12.7 on the road with everything on.

I need to add a spacer to the bottom by and I'll throw a weld on the hinged part while it is out.

your cs144 case is from a v-belt style vehicle thats why it dont drop in and run like mine does . but glad its working just fine for you now .

and as soon as i seen that new belt pic i knew it was correct with out even thinking about it .
