Yep. Ran down to the local greasy swap yard. First truck was a 1985 K10'. Front end had been cannibalized. Walk to the back and there is a glorious 10 bolt laying on the ground. Roll it over and the cover plate is still on it. I zip it open, battery powered tools are the best, and it has an open carrier. Just what I was looking for. I can get gears for an open carrier. Got it out and cleaned it up right there. Bearings, spider gears and the carrier pin look great.
Got it home and did more cleaning. Put my ring gear on it. Spent some time getting the pattern correct. As good as used gears can be. Just waiting for the gear oil to settle out in the tubes so I can finish filling it. Should be good to go.
Now I just need to sell it. I have a boat and a Buick who need the funds.
It is good for a while now. No locker to bind.

Done. Drove it at 75mph. Can not hear anything over the wind noise. No change in sounds from on the throttle to coasting. I am going to call it good.

Under $100 with the parts, gasket and fluid. Now I need to decide if it is worth it to fix the AC. Just were a pump and charge.
If you keep fixing it, it will eventually be nice enough you'll want to keep it.
I have always wanted to keep it, just don't need to keep it.
