Just installed this tach/ fuel gauge. In my opinion the truck should have come with one as standard. I knew there had to be an aftermarket option out there somewhere..... :woot:

There were optional factory tachs mounted there but they're extremely rare.

his with fuel there = c-40 up big truck .

our little trucks got fuel lower left empty or clock hole.

his showing 7k rpm might have been redone and programed for this high a rpm .

can get repop now threw like lmc . or still find them . i got one

and 3 styles 73-mid 70's then till 79 and 80-91 .

back cirkit board diffrent also . can get them aftermarket . just modify the white housing tho as not avalible yet.

Online at GMsports. out in CA.

I had to take a dremel to the back of the gauge cluster house a little bit. Otherwise no changes needed.

Doesn't everybody have one? :D I put this factory one in my '89. This is the light duty truck tach. Hard to come by but not impossible.

The fuel gauge is integrated in the aftermarket one. It isn't OEM. the face is made of some kind of resin or plastic, not metal.

How do you wire this up? This is one mod I really want to do to my 91 ...

thay are miss representing the item .

its font /color/style is for 80-91 .

so if you want correct looking for 78-older dont get it .

I'm not concerned about what it looks like, just want to make sure it will work in an 89. I'm assuming is just has 12 volts for the lights which are already there for the existing fuel gauge, and a tach lead that goes to the negative side of the coil, and a plug for the fuel sending unit.

It is plug and play.

There are 3 pins on the back just like the original for the fuel gauge. Just one wire to the distributor or coil for the tach. piece of cake! :D

Good to know. Looks like I'll be picking one up soon after I get the engine and trans back in it.
