np 205 and 208 questions

1st question to run a np205 mated to a 350 you need a short shaft tranny?
I blew a short shaft tranny and have a 208 long shaft 350 will that work some how?

2nd question is a np208 transfer case cross member the same for a 400 and 350?

IIRC the only way you can use the 350/208 trans with a 205 is to use the 350/208 adapter and redrill the face of the 205. It's either that or swap the outout shafts in the tranny's (blown short output into the good long shaft case).

The adapter is different between a 350 and a 400. The 350 uses 4 bolts to attach the adapter to the trans and a 400 uses 6 bolts.
