Hi men,
when I sharp start the chevy, there comes a crack noise for one time from the trans case. If I start soft on the pedal, there is no noise. The trans case works well in all gears. Could it be the chain or a broken clip ? Anyone an idea ? Thanks.

Sounds like a flexplate issue, would certainly be more likely. Are you sure the noise is from the transfer case?

Sounds like the slip joint on the output shaft/driveshaft is binding. Greasing it may help for a little while. I'd take the shaft off and see if there are any nicks or places it may be catching on.

it comes difinitive from the transfer case, the noise was there also with my old transmission. It is a hard clonk from there, the slip joint works well in a new bushing and seal. I hear, there were problems with the clip on the output shaft.
