Taking a quick look at a 241 shifter, it looks like it could be flipped 180 degrees at the base so the bend in the shifter is pointing backwards instead of forward? Is that the case, has anyone done this?

Since no one has responded, Is there enough room on the case for the lever to rotate and get to low range? I am assuming that you are referring to the lever on the case.

Actually, I'm referring to where the lever bolts into the shifter pocket, just flipping the shifter lever around, not effecting the case at all.

Ahh, well I can't help. Never tried it, I never had a reason to try that.
I would guess that you are wanting to make it easier to reach when in 2wd.

That and keep it from looking like an emergency brake. lol

Curious about the idea too. I hate the way the 241 is all the way forward. The reach to pull it out of 2nd is a big one even for me. I’d rather it be up higher like my 205 was in the other truck.

Is the 241 the same as 208 I just chucked a whole assembly on the scrap pile. I could play with it and see.

its a reach, but I dont have suspension seats in my k5, so it never bothered me much. I reworked the stock shifter when I clocked my case, and its been back in place doing its thing like it should.

although, mine has the 465 trans. a lot of the time I just go straight into low gear instead of reaching for the 241 lever... so im not constantly shifting that thing.

maybe with a few more years of pizza and beer, the stock shifter flaw will present itself to me?????

I wonder if I heat it I can bend it back a little further?

I don't think my little hand held torch got hot enough... or I didn't wait long enough. Couldn't bend it.
