NP 241 shifter...

Interesting!

Perhaps not with the floor shifter there, but bending it towards the driver would make it handier for most of us as well I think...

I'm decently tall, but I still have to lean far forward to reach it. Really have to be ready to shift it if you are going to need it.

It has never bothered me, but I don’t wear a seat belt. I am guessing that is what causes the issue?

never going to be under a ton of pressure- if torch isn't big enough, maybe cut a wedge out of the shaft, bend, weld, and paint it or cover the whole thing in heat shrink tubing to hide the discoloration afterward?

It doesn't bug me a ton, but if I'm thinking I may have to get into 4WD, I find myself hunched over with a hand on the shifter. I'm not normally wearing a belt then either. But due to height my seat is all the way back. Maybe if more forward I wouldn't notice as much.

I dunno. I like to go as far as I can in 2WD, if I just put it in 4 when it was likely to be needed, I wouldn't care probably.

For me it's 100% aesthetic, just looks better, still does the same thing while looking better.

I’ve got to put a better boot on my 241 shifter. When I do that I’ll probably turn mine around. I like how that looks and the reach is better.

Nice work.

Yeah, I've got to put a boot on both my shifters, will do that when I clean up the floor etc..

Considering that the factory 205 shifter was a ton easier to reach in a '72 than what you have now, I completely agree with your idea.
I wonder if the upper plate could be reworked to move the slot backwards without binding the shifter down in the pivot area.

I think the boss started something! Lol. I kind of want to try it too. As long as the factory boot will work?

Haha, yeah, the factory boot should still work just fine.
