I have A np203 T-Case in my 79 k5 (well actually its on the ground right now) but the problem is with the shifter mechanism. It doesnt seem to be working right. If I am correct the should be five selectable positions. (2-loc, 2, N, 4 and 4-loc) i believe thats correct. But this shifter has never worked right from when I bought the rig. long time ago when I parked it for the last time i removed the trans and Tcase because of a cracked flex plate (at trans). I took apart the shifter to see if i could identify the problem. Well I didnt notice anything funny with it. Now that I am starting to work on the project again I thought that maybe when I took i apart I didnt put it together correctly. So I found another shifter assembly at a junk yard and took it apart piece by piece documenting how it was assembled to begin with. Well as it turns out I did everything correctly. Once again I dissasembled my original one, cleand all the gunk out of it and reassembled it with plenty of berring grease to insure nothing was binding. Still its not going through all the positions. Tried finding one through a dealer or many 4wd shops and the part is discontinued. I am stuck. I am about to say screw it and just make my own twin lever set up for the case seeming how i can manually shift into whatever position I want to get out of the case.

I am stuck. I need sugestions....!!! Has any one had problems with their shifters or know of a good solution to this problem>?

You will get suggestions from "get it adjusted right" to "scrap it and twin stick it". I did the latter, but I used the original as part of it. My case has a part time kit in it too though.

You could adjust the linkages "right" all day long, but it is not going make up for a wore out 30 year old, stamp steel, cam lever whatever, shifter mechanism.
I went though the same problem with my blazer. I tried to rebuild my shifter mechanism also. I first thought I was the only one having this kind of problem, but as time went by I've heard others with the same problem. I fixed it by swapping in a NP 205. Overkill yes, but I don't have any more shifter problems.
ORD sells a twin stick kit for the NP203 for a reason.
