NP203 part time kit install question

i just got my part time kit for my NP203 . ( the shaft kit ) i've put it all in but there seams to be a problem , the oil pump doesent seam to fit all the way down in the in the dif. houseing . the kit had 4 thrust washers and a baring thet goes betwen the new shaft and the maine shaft of the t-case . should i remove the thrust washers ?
