np205 3:1 gears

Welcome to CK5!

That's pretty cool but 1300 clams is a LOT of money. I'll stick with my doubler plans...much cheaper... /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

yeah well how longs it been since we first heard talk of this setup? I'll believe it when its for sale on the open market. Interesting to keep watching though.

This is a major "gift" to us fullsize guys!/forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif.... Kudos to JB Conversions for thier work!

Seems a little pricey at first, but I'd gladly pay $1300 for a good low range ratio in the toughest 'case known to man...!

Marv

The toughness of their case is yet to be seen. In case you missed it, they supply a new case that will work with the setup. I'm sure its tough as can be but yeah untested yet.

$1300 dollars, for a .28 lower gear ratio? Sure you may kill a 241 or two, but you could replace a 241 about 10 times over for the price of that gear set and case.

You have a point but look at it this way. A dana 60 and 14 bolt are well over $1000 and you can get a couple sets of 10 bolts for that, doesn't mean I want to be broken down on the trail waiting to swap in a spare 10 bolt /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif Same thing basically, I'd rather have the 205 and not worry about it. I'll run the 241 until it blows but I'm not putting another one back in if I can help it /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

im running a DIVORCED case. assuming they make one for me, im interested.

AA told me they would not suggest running an atlas because of my weight

Yeah, but show me a '241 that can run a PTO winch /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif.

Just imagine a Wagoner 3:1 NP203 and a JB 3:1 NP205...can you say insanity! /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

yup
insane waste of cash
you lose your 2:1
$1300 + $1000 + $800
just in kits
now throw in a couple cores

for 1/4 that cash you could do dual 465s with 32 spline all the way through

I'm very glad to see it's been done, and there are more improvements than just gear ratio, but that price (while justified based on materials and labor) is just too much for me. I would be much more inclined to go with WMS 203 low gear, low gear sets for the Th350/400, or even a Klune or custom planetary range box for that price. And if you’ve got the chassis, MJ’s “465 as range box” suggestion would be viable, though I would put it behind an auto… /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Oh, and BTW, the low gear 205 has no PTO provision…

The NV241HD in TARussell's 02 Dodge CTD has a PTO provision. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

Tell me how the price of that 241HD compares too the 3:1 gear set, plus add for no core /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif.

IIRC remans over at the TDR run over $1K + the core.

I can't show you that, you could come over to my house with a PTO for my 465 and see a 241 equipped rig running a PTO. ANd I'd be inclined to go with the WMS 203 setup, the lose of the 2:1 gearing would be more of a problem in my eyes. Rather have that as the option than the 1.96:1.

Yes, you can run a PTO on a '465.
When I had a 465/205 combo I installed the PTO onto the np205 so I could have multiple input speeds and be able to power the winch out. You can get a multi=speed pto box but they are pricey compared to the single speed units.

Who makes the 3:1 for the 203. I'm thinking doubler with a 9:1 option in it.... /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

th400/5.86/39"tires/Doubler @ 9:1= 130.8:1 crawl
th400/5.86/39"tires/Doubler @ 3:1= 43.6:1 crawl
or, leave the 205 or 203 at 2:1 and get

th400/5.86/39"tires/Doubler @ 6:1= 87.2:1 crawl
