Gents I am looking for an NP205 Indicator Light Sender and Pigtail, new if possible. Any ideas where to shop please?

hmm, thought you might know...it's most likely late 70's and maybe 1980. let me do a little more searching

I did some more looking, and it looks like they have discontinued the part. I found part numbers, but they were all no good. Your best bet would be to check a salvage yard or find one that's being parted out.

Does your 205 currently have a sender in it? The reason i ask is the shift rail is different on the 205's that use the 4x4 indicator light and it won't work if it's not the correct shift rail.

Yes it does have the sender in it. I guess I could check it for continunity...I just want to replace it anew "just because", it is starting to look like I am fortunate I even have it. Dang, I betcha there out there somewhere...sender AND pigtail for it...

I suspect there were two different ones, but I don't know when they started using the light. '85+ is definitely a two pin weatherpack connector (which if they existed, were not common prior to '85), as I have one in my truck.

GM PART # 15594176
CATEGORY: All
PACK QTY: 1
CORE CHARGE: $0.00
GM LIST: $21.79
OUR PRICE: $12.93

Still valid on GMpartsdirect.com

Parts diagram/listing for 205 here: http://dyeager535.topcities.com/partsmanual.html

I can't recall where I got the "pigtail", but I obviously cut it off another vehicle. I *believe* that the 4L60E (used in everything, Astro's very common) uses the same connector and was likely my donor. I wouldn't pay for the pigtail, I bet $$ that the pigtail costs more than the switch new.

Realize there is a gasket that sets the switch "depth" and you can't get those gaskets AFAIK. The light will probably not work right with that gasket torn up (as mine is, from removing the switch) so it's best to leave it be, if it works right. They can be removed with the t-case under the vehicle.

I THANK YOU kindly...

its dyeager535 . topcities . com/partsmanual.html without all the spaces obviously. That work?

What kind of connector does your current one have? Weatherpack is the two round plastic terminals, while I suspect earlier is probably something like the early SM465 reverse plugs or rear tail light wiring, rubber connectors.

I got it the first time bro, the deal is, until "I" have 15 posts "I" can not post up a URL. What was happening is I was trying to "Quote" you, and in doing so it appeared to the server as though "I" was posting up a URL when indeed, I was simply quoting you in my reply.
A guy from drivetrain.com just replied to me too, I asked him in an email about this gasket and the pigtail...
While I have your ear, when you say ASTRO you mean and Chevy Astro Van yes???
REegarding what kind of connector I have, I just took a pic and posted it up, so to see it, rebuild this htt p://ww w.plumbers.cc/images/jeep/switch205.jpg There is a space between the t and the p and the w's is all

Yep, PN I posted is definitely NOT for that switch.

I have no idea if they are interchangeable, only thing I can think of that would really matter is whether or not the shifter rails are cut the same depth, like the difference between switch-capable and non-switch capable rails.

Probably are, but some of this stuff you expect to be the same, isn't. And I know for a fact that at least the weatherpack switches are VERY sensitive to travel/gasket thickness.

I do mean astro van, but I think I'm wrong on that...the Astro van plug I'm thinking of is the same as the 205 VSS, which you don't have.

It may just be a "generic" 2 prong weatherpack connector. The weatherpacks are usually keyed so they fit only the correct receptacle, but that is easily rectified (cut the tab off) if they don't fit.

for what its worth i had a switch on my 205 i built up for my doubler kit. i remaned the case with ord twin stick rails and opted out the switch as its tabs were broken. i had a spare case for parts i robed the 32 spline front from and used a spare threaded plug to fill the hole.

I'm thinking the 208/241's use the same electrical plug, as well as whatever the S10's were using, so they are probably still very common in the wrecking yards.

Yeppers, me thinks I need ot find a Chevy Junkyard...round these parts lots of rice burner yards is all...

Why not rig up a micro switch on the shift lever. When the lever is in 4H the switch is closed and the 4WD light is on, when you shift the transfer case into 2H or N the switch is open and the 4WD light is off.

Mike, I'll be sure to incorporate that into my Twin Stick NP205 Voice Activated, Pneumatic Controlled Precision Shift mechanism...Till then it's old school...

Good Idea though bro, since I have a twin stick I "could" make a Twin Stick LED Indicator Panel, MAN that would ROCK! Imagine a Twin Stick LED Shift Indicator Panel ! Front Axle L - N - H Rear Axle L - N - H, so it would be 6 lights! AWSOME! Oh man... :saweet:

I thought of that. You'd neglect one of the two ranges on the transfer case unless you added another switch, then you'd want them to be somewhat weatherproof, heatproof, oilproof, etc.
