I'm kinda new to the 4x4 world as I just got my Blazer in January...
I broke my slip yoke and don't know if it's a common issue with the lift, etc... But I definitely don't want to find out the hard way...
Which is the preferred choice? Or will I be fine with the 208 and just jumping offroad occasionally???
I don't do much offroading, but need something to hold up???
I've got an '84k5 with a pretty much stock 305----700r4/np208 and a 4" suspension lift w/ 3" body lift and 35s. Don't know my rear end gearing or anything...
I know there's alot of you guys out there that I could consider experts in this field, especially compared to me. So I appreciate any and all comments on this...

208 should be fine for that combo/mild wheeling. It'll bolt inplace of your broken one without any mods.

If you already broke a slip yoke you are bound to break another. If you were to stick with a 208 or 241 you should SYE the TC.

I would look at this question from 3 ways.

#1 Np208's that went behind Auto trannys are alot more common to find than Np205's. An Np208 will be cheaper too......you can pick up a 208 for 50/100 dollars....but if you go looking for a 205 you are going to spend 200/300 dollars......reason being is that GM didnt offer NP205's behind automatic's compared to the Np208s.

#2 If you went with a Np205.....you will need one that was behind a 350 turbo (350's and 700's) have the same spline count (27spline)........however......if you get one out of a 1970-75.......it will have a fixed rear yoke, and spicer knuckle style front yoke........and neither of your current driveshafts will bolt up to it.

A NP205 out of a 1980 chevy 1/2 ton would work, since it has the slip yoke rear, and flat saginaw style front driveshaft flange. So your driveshafts will bolt up to it.

#3 low range...........the Np205 will be stronger......but its low range is crap compared to the Np208. If you dont do much off roading, then I would stick with the Np208.......its cheap, easy to find......and you know it will bolt right in.
