Last time out I broke my front output CV on my square driveshaft (front). I had a 1410 driveshaft laying around from a F-250 with a flange on one end and a yoke on the other. My idea is to run all 1410 front shaft. I bought a D60-1410 yoke and hoped to use the flange from the Ferd, but the pilot hole is different size. The holes line up, but not the pilot hole. Do they make a 1410 flange that will go on the front of the 208? I'm not wanting to run a CV shaft, is this possible? I think I saw someone on here running one. Will I run into crossmember clearance issues? I've already welded the 1410 yoke on 2.5" 1/4 wall square tube. Left is the Ferd flange, right is stock 1310 cv

I contacted a reputable driveline business and they do custom make a 1410 companion flange that is machined with a 3 1/8 pilot hole. The downfall is that it cost $140 for the flange. Not really what I was wanting to hear, but may be my only option. Anybody have any other suggestions?

You could make one out of 1/2in plate, and weld it to a 32 spline piece. We made a few for some large by huge mud trucks around here.

Best and cheapest bet (especially since you already welded it to the square tube already, which was a bad move...) would be to have a spacer made. Gonna make your flange probably an inch thicker but a piece that has the GM pilot on the back and ford pilot on the front would be a piece of cake for any decent machinist to whip up on a lathe out of a chunk of bar stock.

I'm still running that driveshaft, never had a problem with it. I don't do high speeds with the front locked in, generally upwards of 35mph. It makes some noise, but nothing I've worried about. My front driveshaft is at what I'd call a moderate angle. I have the tcase clocked up 2" and the front axle was moved forward 2.5". I don't remember now what it cost, but I wouldn't consider it cheap.

Not sure what other info I could give you.

I haven't welded anything to that end yet, just the axle side. I wonder if I could just have the companion flange that I have machined to the correct pilot hole? I'll check around tomorrow.

Not sure how I missed some of the other responses.

MrK5-thanks for responding. I guess I was wanting to know how well it had been working and if you had any problems. I guess you answered that.

I thought about running a yoke instead of flange, I just like flange mounting better. My only concern now is if I will have crossmember clearance issues. My transfer case is not clocked.
