NP208 SYE....who makes them?

Damn bro think I had $20 in mine. At least you found one though. I think the 3500 vans with a th400 had a 1350. You'd just have to drill and tap your output shaft.

For the record. The SYE was about $340, the rest of the cost was for the new driveshaft that came with the kit. I believe the solution by Tom Wood's is the "right" way to do a SYE on a 208. That is my opinion anyway..... :D

It also gives you the better angles you need;)

NP208 SYE on the cheap

New here but I did this awhile back and found this link that someone wrote up about it. The parts cost about $30 at the local junkyard.
You use a Dodge tailshaft and shaft cone. The one I got was for a cummings equipped truck so it had a 1350 yoke on it. The biggest exspence was the new rear driveline. I had a custom aluminum one made up to lighten the rotating mass. Probably didn't have to do that, but it works good.
Here os the link.

I saw that solution as well during my research, but the fact that the cone holes didn't line up to the casing and that you had to drill and tap additional holes made it not an option for me. It's a fine solution if you have a tig welder and can weld in bungs for the new bolts to screw into. I don't have those tools. :doah:

208 sye

Using the Dodge tailshaft, you do have to redrill and tap the back half of yor case, so the oiling holes line up. But it was not a big deal. Have had this setup in my 84 with 38" swampers and have never had a problem with it. The 383 stroker spins those tires on pavement, and haven't blown the yransfercase yet.
Transmissions yes, u-joints, and snapped a axle, but not the transfer.
Probably should quit doing burn outs at the truck drags.

I never did weld bungs in mine, just drilled and tapped the holes. I used the bolts from the Dodge version. I have not hade a problem with it but a welding shop only charged about $45 bucks to do a buddys who was putting his behind a 502

Sye

Hope that helps, whatever my two cents are worth. Got to go take the wife to dinner, will check back later.

Wow I really need to get a spell check for my iPhone

just a liitle more info on this. i did mine a few months ago and learned a few things about the doner case you need. you need a 208 out of a dodge with synchronized shifting. so a case from late 82 to 87 will work. the older ones (80- early82) will not work.
