Nutsert Tool Recommendations?

I started with a horrible Freight.

i stock aluminum nutserts just for the handheld. one aluminum ones Crush pretty easily

It's no different that a 3/8 nut and bolt. Just the nut is swished on to some sheet metal.

I would say some of it depends on how many fasteners you use. For 100lbs I feel like you'd be fine with 4, 1 in each corner if the box is say 2'x2'. If it's longer than 2' I might thinking about adding one in the middle of each of the long sides. And I would use the 3/8" variety like you mentioned.

One thing you could do is cut a piece of similar thickness sheet metal and add under the floor to get pinched with the rivet nut. It would give you a little extra stiffness. You can get rivet nuts made for thicker material so maybe you could even sandwich an 1/8" piece of metal on the bottom side to act as a washer.

Old thread, thought this was a good idea for a tool to set nutsert/rivnut.
I made my own tool before I bought one. It worked fine but was inconsistent and way more work than the real thing. Plus I had to "make" a tool for each size I wanted to install. The actual tool takes no more time than a regular pop rivet but can produce repeatable results and is easily adjusted. Worth every penny in my opinion. But Ive installed a ton of nutserts across my projects. I use them whenever I can.
