My Th400 is toast.

After speaking with the boss, she said that she will put up with me spending the money and time needed to swap in the 5 speed I want.

Just doing a quick search on craigslist, I found a Nv4500 with clutch, bellhousing, transfer case, clutch pedal, hydraulics, drive lines from 93 chevy 2500 truck asking $1600.

If I get a 6.2L flywheel and anything else needed?

Will the pedals (or just clutch pedal) from a 93 fit my 1989 suburban?

As long as I get the bell housing with the transmission, I should be fine there correct? My NP241 TC will bolt right up correct?

Pedals will not fit.
Drive shafts may or may not fit.
Transfer case should bolt right up.

88-up new body bell housing is pass side low drop out for hydro slave . will hit front drive shaft if not lifted min 3-4 inch.

88-up pedal and parts no good to you for bolt in and go use. need 85-91 square body pedal and parts for bolt in and go . also splice the hydro line from 1 to the other and blead .

the tcase will be round 6 pattern for the nv4500 . if you have a round pattern 208/241/205 then its basicly a swap off your th400 . if you have a figure 8 tcase style you need some work to make stuff fit .

drive shafts from 88-up no good to you basicly .

I see now that $1600 is way to much. I have some reading and searching to do.

I did do a little searching when I got home from hunting tonight. I cannot find a rebuilt one for less than $1500 ($1000 + 500 core). But the AA bell housing is fairly cheap at $366, if I do go that route.

I will check my tcase. It is a 241, so I am pretty sure it is the round 6 pattern. Would be nice if I could just use that.

Best place for 85-91 pedals and parts is junk yards? By parts, you are are talking about clutch and master cylinder?

I am running a 4" suspension lift. So I can use any bell housing correct?

Your trnsfer case will bolt right up to the Nv4500 since its already behind a 400 turbo..

The tranny Im getting only cost me around 200 bucks for shipping from Texas to Missouri.. Only reason Im selling one is I have another one that I rebuilt..

in red :D

Man this is way too high. I bought an nv4500 from a wrecked truck for 125$. All the stuff to use mechanical clutch linkage and a bell housing and shift from advance adapters is around 600

I used the AA bell...as you said it's pretty inexpensive. They also have an adaptor piece so you can bolt a GM slave to it. A GM master is cheap. The hydro pedals are a bit tough to find, but do come up now and then.

The 6 hole output part of the NV4500 is the same pattern as your current 241...but the pattern is not 100% symmetrical and because only driver's side drop was ever hung off the back of the NV4500 the pattern is mirrored to what you need. The good news is by slightly ovalling one hole with a file it can be made to work.

Shifter hole in the tunnel isn't any big deal.

Overall a good swap, just make sure you run the tranny 1/2-1 quart overfull and run the correct (spendy) fluid.

Or a custom clocking ring.

OK, I have a line on a '93 NV4500 for $500 in Reno, which is about 2.5 hours away. It is used and not in a vehicle and does not include a bell housing. I figure $500 to be a fair price as that is what the core charge is on all rebuilds.

Will I have any clearance issues with a stock bell housing external slave and my exhaust down pipe? I am running the banks turbo kit with banks down pipe going to 4" exhaust. I have a 4" suspension lift and I understand I should have no drive shaft clearance issues, but uncertain about my exhaust.

Would an AA bell housing have any clearance issues?

Is there anything to look for as far as being able to see if it is in OK shape?

I have seen where people have used an SM465 bell housing on the NV4500, and just drilled new holes to bolt the transmission to the bell housing.

Still looking to find this answer. I want to go pick up the 1993-95 NV4500 in reno.

Anyone here put an NV4500 behind a 6.2L?

Wasn't yours a 6.2L? Over at the dieselplace, someone mentioned that the AA bell does not play well with the 6.2L. It would be good to know if I can get it to work. Then I would have bell housing options. :D

84cucv member I think has a 6.2 nv4500 and even did cross country trip . search a little its here with build thread I think .

Thanks, I will give it a search. I have been reading as many swap threads as I can, but have not found many (any) 6.2L in my limited available time.
