OBD2 makes my head hurt

just put a pump in it. It will pass a smoke test with a bad pump. I would spend some $ on a pump before spending $100 for somebody to tell you it needs a pump.

Most of the time I don't use the valve. I just pump it from fuel cap. Its faster to set up. In your situation, I just replace the pump and not worry about a smoke test. I'd it was a 442,455, or 456, then I would smoke test it
 
OK, I replaced the leak detection pump...not hard and not expensive. Use the scanner to clear the codes. 100 miles of varied driving and it still shows EVAP pending. Gonna drive it to work and back again tomorrow and cross fingers. At least it's not setting a code so far, but still. I'm at the point where time is getting short. It needs an E-test before we can re-insure it. Insurance runs out Saturday midnight. If I don't have a green light on this thing on Friday things are gonna suck.
 
Three days driving this thing now, back and forth to work, drives specifically aimed at the trip/drive cycle. Driven nearly 160 miles and still EVAP says not ready. No codes though. When I just changed the gas cap I drove it to work and back and had a P0440 again when I got home. I'm thinking the LDP fixed the issue, the EVAP is just taking it's sweet time doing it's diagnostics.

I don't know for sure that the testing station will fail it for not being "ready/tested" across the board, so we're gonna take a $42 chance and see what happens.
 
call them and ask if you can have a monitor not ready ?

in ny state here you can have 2 not ready for 96-2000 and 2001-up = 1 not ready and then if no codes you pass.
 
Apparently they're OK with one not ready, as long as there are no codes and no MIL light. Got a "pass" and re-insured.

Checked again and EVAP is still not ready...I'm gonna keep checking periodically just cuz I'm curious at this point how long it'll take. At least that's one item i can cross off my list now.
