Stopped by vatozone to try and find some but no luck. The corvette calipers mount a little different, I could go with a jb7 single piston but I really want a 2 piston.

Well I picked up the jb7 calipers. The piston is HUGE. I'll let you guys know if it was worth the $25

not as big as dana 60 pistion tho. :thumb:

Its close! Its a 3" piston.

Im wondering how these will do without hydroboost.
Basically a jb7 brake system had hydroboost and a jb6 wasn't.
Either way it will be better than my dragging jb5's

Brakes are done. The truck.stops infinetely better.
I suggest this upgrade head over heels to any other upgrade in safety.
100% better. You have noooo idea.

A few questions.

Your front axle is a dana 44, what outers? 6 lug, 8 lug?

Were the old calipers pretty well stock chevy half ton stuff, or 3/4 ton?

Bolt in I am assuming?

I have the same calipers front and rear on my truck, and would prefer to do a larger caliper on front. This may be just the idea I'm looking for.

It was 8 lug with jb5(1/2 ton) calipers
Completely bolt in. Pedal is a little softer but it stops so much better that I could care less.

how can you tell if it's a jb5 or jb7?

I only know I have a D44 8 lug, but it's not the factory axle. Might have come from the same truck as my 3/4 14bff, but I dunno.

Can we get a side by side pic? :)

Not sure how to tell.
Just asked for an 87 v20 with jb7 brakes.
That's what my 14bff came out of.

But you'll know if you have the big ones. The piston measures 3"
I think the jb5 is 2.625 or 2.75

And I already took my cores back. I almost took a picture but forgot.

how bout a nice close up of the new ones? :) maybe we could tell just by seeing what we DON'T have.

I should have taken pictures. But I was excited and doing it myself.

Vatozones website has good pictures. It looks like itwouldnt even bolt up the same but it does.

PN C530 and C531

so jb7 is big as ****. Bigger than i eyeballed i guess. The guy at vatozone said 3" so i went with it and eyeballed what my old ones were. Either way, mine is jb7 without hydro boost and a 14bff. stops on a dime with 1/2-3/4 pedal. i would never need to put it to the ffloor unless i wanted to lock it up. with antilock brakes i could stop about as fast as our subaru legacy
