OEM or raised steering arm?

In my quest to determine what exactly my truck has, I realized that I have no clue as to whether it's got a stock steering arm, or a raised one.

The steering wheel sits clocked about 45* clockwise from where it should be, which leads me to think either the guy who put the lift on (4" or 6", not sure :doah:) didn't replace the OEM steering arm.

One day I will know what all has been done to this truck. That day is really far off. :(
 
Judging by how straight the drag link is, looks like a raised arm to me. Not to mention how tall the steering arm is, lol. You can adjust your drag liknk to straighten up your steering wheel though. You may want to play with that first.
 
Probably a stupid question, but how would I adjust the drag link to make everything happier?

The Blue Brick will be getting an alignment as soon as I get new tires on it, but having the steering wheel in the correct position would be nice until then.
 
Adjusting the drag link will push or pull your pitman arm one way or another depending on which way you turn everything. When you find out which way you need to go, just stop when your steering wheel is straight. Just be sure to leave yourself plenty of threads before tightening everything down. If by chance you can't get it, tell them at the alignment shop you want your steering wheel straight too and they should be able to do it while they are under there.
 
Set the front wheels so that they are pointing straight ahead. Remove the draglink assembly from the steering arm. Turn the steering wheel all the way from left to right, counting the turns. Turn the steering wheel back to center using half the turns. Adjust the drag link so that the stud fits freely into the steering arm. Tighten the nut and install cotter pin. Make sure you tighten the fittings on the drag link too.
 
Well, that solves that. Now I just need to figure out how much lift I have, to see if shackle flips in the back will let me get rid of the blocks, or if I'll need an AAL or longer shackles too.
 
How tall is the block? Do the rear springs have polyurethane bushing, newish rubber, or old cracked rubber one.

Don't do AAL's they suck and make your ride suck too.

The block is about 4.5", and if I remember right, the springs have old nasty rubber bushings in them, but I'll have to check in the morning.

I'm pretty sure the front springs aren't stock (think they're 5 leaf), but the guy I bought it from never drove it, and the guy he bought it from was the one who lifted it :rolleyes:
