Looking to replace the original shocks on my stock height '89 Jimmy. I've read that it's o.k to just go with just single shock per wheel and eliminate the quad set up. Not sure which single shock would replace this. Any recommendations or part #'s greatly appreciated. Btw, I'm going to be putting an EZ inch on the rear to pick up sag would this affect shock size? Thanks.

any shock that is valved for a stock "single shock per wheel" '89 Jimmy will work, I'm fairly certain that the valving is all that changes going from single to quad, and that quads only help against shock fade. hopefully someone else will chime in and verify me on this.

as for the EZinch, if you're not worried about flex i doubt that inch will affect which shock to use.

Will the EZ inch flex more making for a musher ride? Wonder if I should go with a ad a leaf set up, as I do plan on some light towing and carrying tools in the back.

Nope. The whole point of the EZ Inch is that it doesn't change the spring rate. (The ORD version is called "Zero Rate" for that very reason.)

You might choose to go with a stiffer spring out back, either by replacing the pack outright or, as you mentioned, with an add-a-leaf. You will however reduce the spring packs' flex in doing so; you trade an increased load for a stiffer ride and less off-road ability.

I see you changed your location -- you didn't sound Dutch :haha:

And it's SSDD out here; there's always a highway under construction somewhere... CalTrans built a *temporary* bridge ("flyover"), I kid you not, as part of redoing the 680/24 interchange ("Malfunction Junction" )

Yea, every time I visit it seems like some hwy is getting wider. I don't even recognize downtown W.C. anymore.
