Off Road Carb

.......and btw, I wanna squash this before it starts...... Im not interested in injection or propane hahahah

Why not go TBI? Or even propane? You can get used set ups for pretty cheap.

TBI is ok but does have its draw backs and Propane is a Pain in the ass if you want to street drive or take long wheeling trips

Not really worried bout tha cost but i do want fuel injection...any good stand alone fi systems??? Dont know much about propane...i had bad luck with my tbi set up on my 90 k5, actually wound up carborating it

What problems do the TBI have? I have never had a problem. And I have gone wheelin a couple times...

I believe it was a wiring problem...i was drivin and it jus quit pumpin fuel...i changed EVERYTHIN but tha wiring n it still would spit fuel out tha injectors so i carbd it...

TBI can be as big a pain as a crappy carb when things aren't 100%. There are hundreds of threads where guys are having all sorts of trouble getting a TBI rig to run right, or trying to get a swapped TBI set up to run right. Almost every one the guy has swapped literally every sensor and still has issues. My 90 runs decent, but it has a high idle issue I can't get rid of (1000 rpm)

Propane is great for trail only, but for anything else availability can be a pain, and I personally hate the power loss and exhaust smell of it. I also do not like the tank location issues, particularly with a K5.

I'll be running a Q-jet on the big block. Way more options as far as cam and stuff, and zero hassles. I don't want something I need to hook a laptop up to to see what is really going on. Hell, I have enough issues keeping my laptop running. :haha:

Well its ok on a stock engine, but it gets spendy and complicated if you have a hot motor.

IMHO if your gonna go through the hassle of swapping to Fuel Injection you might as go with an aftermarket system that can build power easier.

Now that being said I have a Few TBI trucks and they will remain TBI (except the one thats getting a Diesel swap)

what about a Demon carb? They are similiar in price to the Edelbrocks at least with their standard carbs and they also custom build to your engine. I have heard good things about them from friends but have not run one yet myself. (right now im stuck with a holley and it sucks)

Jack, r u askin me that question or jus askin in general??? I've read nothing but praises bout q-jet offroad on here by people who have put them thru the paces...

So since I have long tube headers and a stage II rv cam, I should use the stage II q-jet???

Just asking that in general. I have heard a lot of good things about Demons from a couple friends and was just throwing that out there.

Never heard of a Demon on an offroad truck. Lots of muscle cars and pavement princesses.
