off-road Gear

I have a couple of 3/8" eye bolts and ratchet tie downs for my toolbox. My rule of thumb is that if you can't decide if you should tie it down(or secure it in some way), have a friend drop it on your face.

Exactly, BlazerGuy. When I first started flying as aircrew, I questioned one of our crewchiefs about strapping EVERYTHING down. He then proceeded to throw my helmet bag (with 2 cans of soda and about 5lbs of spare parts) and 2 other helmet bags at me. Luckily he stopped before he got to the toolbox! He said if I liked having s#!t flying at me in a crash, leave it unstrapped.

Semper Maintenance!

Yeah, I've built a deck too.. but my list of tools is so minmal...
Craftsman Socket set only ( its like every friggin metric and SAE socket you will ever need.. you never know when you may need it for those random metric things GM throws in). I've put cheap tools in my cars before, but after torquing the head off a ratchet from K-mart, that was the end for me, nothing less than craftman or husky, or Snap on (too rich for my blood)
Two recovery straps (30k w/o hook, 20k w hook)
X tire lug remover (doesnt strip it as easily as those curved suckers) and extra lugs
WD 40 (spray on before mud and snow, it just falls off!)
Quart of ATF and two quarts of motor oil
Rags, gloves, hand cleaner
Red Highway flares
Duct tape
Tarp
fire extinguisher
Cell phone, GPS, CB
Electric tire inflator
Tire plug kit
Tire chains

I dont carry much more than that, because it all fits into a nice milk crate. Anything more, I dont even have room to put my traveling gear.Though now that I see what you guys carry, I can already see what else I am gonna have to put in for the summer. (I took out the winter gear already, like sleeping bag and extra clothing)

I will also put in:

First aid kit
2 Gal drinking water

I need to build some sorta storage compartment into the engine bay... there is just so much wasted space in there, I could probably stick all the fluids under there.

And I am definately strapping everything down!!! (from the horror stories I hear)
