Well-put! Think before you post is a pretty good thought too...

Expanding on capt's thought, re-reading your posts might also be another good thought before posting. A line you think is fine cause you're smiling when you type it might come across pretty abrasive/aggressive by someone that can't see you smiling, resulting in a friendly joke becoming a small word war... I think the little smiley faces have been great at changing the potential attitude of some posts!! I gotta get off my arse and use 'em too...

Good rules set!

Here's my quick comment on the cussing. If you all dont like it I dont have a problem what so ever keeping it under wraps.
"HOWEVER" Who was it that said words like the F word and all the other words were "BAD"? I mean someone could have said peepee was a bad word and we wouldn't be able to say that. Do you all see what I mean?
All words are just words. I guess this falls into my category with why they have brail on drive thru ATM machines!!

Well I agree w/ ftn's view on the swearing, but basically if we have kids here reading over mommy or daddy's shoulder... I don't think Mrs. johnson ,the kids 2nd grade teacher, is gonna take kindly to junior coming to class saying S#@! S#@! S#@!... F#@! F#@! F#@! if ya know what I mean.

Also many people, probably some older members (sorry guys

) I personally have found it has become everyday language around here...Seems like I'm always hearing 7 or 8 yr olds going by on their bikes using every word in the books to say turn left at the next stop sign. But anyways I agree using the @##%%^%&$&&*&^$##@@! marks is fine... Plus it is FUN too

However, I will have to "nip" you for that four screen post about 'nipping' when you get home!

Well put Grimmy. I have been guilty of many of the above in the past. I think these are all resonable and fair rules to live by.

1 of the things I love most about this site is the way we all get along. ( w/ the exception of a few loose cannons every now and then. ) And in those instances we kinda self police.

I have noticed a few posts deleted and moved over the last few months, and wondered if my past was catching up to me, or if it really had moved or even existed! LOL!!

I get all the excercise I need pushing my luck!

In regards to moving threads, is there a way to indicate that the thread has been moved when you are looking at the list of threads? When posts get moved on the Dodge Cummins site I'm on (www.turbodieselregister.com), in the original forum the title is still shown, but it is indicated that the tread was moved. This allows people who were following the thread to find it in its new location. Not sure if its a posibility with the software here or not, but it is nice.

I'm not sure that this software is capable of that but I will ask Steve about it. On some posts I'm trying to leave a note of the impending move and where it will be moved and leave it for a couple of hours when possible. The search function if done from the main forums screen will search all forums so if you think it will be moved try to keep track of the title and you can find it that way.

It's not my damn planet monkey boy!

Here is another good rule to post by: if there is already an active thread going about what you are going to post, then put it there. Don't start a new one, it makes things hard to follow.

Bout time, I would answer to the guy who was debating on what is a cuss word, if you can't say it in a normal conversation with;
A. a minster
B. 5 year daughter
C. Your Mother
Then it IS A CUSS WORD and don't use it. I too have people read the board and sometimes have to react quickly to keep things off the screen...( thank God for speed reading).
Grim glad to see you do this, it speaks volumes of your integrity, and intelligence.....complience on my part no prob!!!
