I have had several people ask me about what I've done to my Burb....I used to read through several "build" threads and wonder why people had to list the things they did to their trucks/cars but most of my attitude about them was because I couldn't get mine built the way I wanted to because of so many life changes or money issues

Well........

I'm getting pretty close to the next level of "build" with my Burb "The Beast" and figured I would get those of you with questions caught up with what I've done over the past couple of years.

It started in 2009 when I purchased this 1987 GMC Suburban 1500 from my father-in-law for $1500. He was the second owner and at that time had owned it for half of it's life. We knew EVERYTHING there was to know about this vehicle.

I immediately started using it as a hunter transporter for Guided Elk/Deer hunts as well as Fly Fishing trips. It was a very trailworthy rig stock as I could get it into places with strategic driving while hauling as many as 7 hunters and guides with all of their gear to/from camp.

In 2010 I started dreaming of the next level I wanted to take my Suburban.......

This is where I started in the beginning of 2011.........

it started with this package showing up at the door......it was all I could afford at the time so it was something I knew I could use as a foundation to build off of.....

I also installed this grille at this time to give it a little upgrade on looks since I had taken out a whitetail buck in Nebraska the summer before

Some Colorado CK5 Members from the Colorado Springs area installed my Rough Country lift, new brakes all around, and ORD steering brace for me

and this is how I drove it through March of last year.........when I was offered a job in Utah. The adventure began here........

New tires to make the trip to Utah a little easier :thumb:

After settling in to Utah and all of the stress of new job, new state, etc.....

I started to find some "trouble" to get into here in Utah. Like Moab!!!!

I blew up the 10bolt rearend and decided to find something a little more "unbreakable"........

I found a set of HD D60/D70s out of a 92 Dodge and it was all over from there. I'm sorry I don't have more pictures of what I built and along the way. This thread so far is just going to be pictures of along the way so we can get to where we are now so that I can take better notes from here out.

Custom Rear Shackle Flip with front hangers off a junkyard donor......

Saggy "Squatting Dog" syndrome set in and I started to look at what to do to sit it level.

The Front D60 had lifted it 2" making my Rough Country 4" front springs and my shackle flip not match up.........

so I added some 2" Blocks and some Nitro8000 shocks to add some positive lift and ride to the arse........

The engine was replaced in October of 2011 with a TBI'd 350 out of a '91 Suburban 2500. The wife had forgotten to get the oil changed and threw a rod. I had it out and back in over a weekend fighting a snow storm and didn't take the time to get pictures of that modification.

I did however add the 1" TBI Spacer from Transdapt and the cold air intake at that time along with removing the cat and installing the Performance Stage 2 chip.

I'm currently building a custom cowled hood, rear bolt-on tube bumper with spare tire carrier and a front bolt-on tube bumper with recovery hoop that will bolt on to the OEM bumpers like exo-skeletons.........

Custom Tint Film is currently in the mail as we speak. I also have a 1976 GMC 1500 Stepside with SB400/TH350/203 that I got for my teenage daughter so I will be busy doing the Mile Marker 502 conversion to 4x2 and replacing the wood in the bed floor!!

Too many irons on the fire right now......but that's how I do it!

Don't even get me started on the stuff I'm doing to all of the ATVs around the house too :dunno:

sit back and stay tuned
