offroad truck any suggestions?

right now I have a 700R4, so my crawl ratio is...

3.06 x 1.96 x 4.56 = 27:1 (not including TC multiplication)

you have

2.48 x 1.96 x 5.13 = 25:1 (again, no TC)

Personally, I don't think I can get low enough with my current set up. Im gonna go to 5.13s soon... and will probably add some kind of crawler box too at a later date. I want lower gears for rocks tho... so your experience may differ. For most trail stuff my 700/205 combo is plenty but for rocks ya need more control.

ya im tryin to save up for a doubler. im a fan of the auto trans but i might switch over to the sm465 for the low first gear. also im shooting for the 5.38 gears.

i always wanna do rocks and slippery nasty hill climbs, so I'd rather have an auto. One less thing to worry about when you're half a second from doing an endo. ;) manuals do have nice low 1st gears, but if you add in the TC mult factor I have 6.12 at the trans, not that bad.

I think I have told that to Rene.
too much hacking

:haha: :haha:

First I've heard of it, and after running it for the last 2.5 years with my "Too much hacking" I can say it has worked really good.

I hope to one day get the Alcan's I bought under the truck...that will change many things. I'll gain 2-3 inches of lift (depending on how much my old springs have sagged) but I'll also gain a ton of flex. I may have to hack a bit more up front. The core support looks to be the tricky area with the tires turned.
