I purchased a tow strap and tire deflators through offroadrecovery.com on 7/24/07 and have not received anything from them. I have not been able to reach them through email or by telephone. I bought from them because they were local and cheaper than some. They took my transaction and now I am filing a claims dispute through my bank. I also filed a claim through the Better Business Bureau to have them checked out. Has anyone had any experience with this company? I will let you guys know what goes down!

MODS if this is not the proper place I am sorry and feel free to move, just thought everyone should know!

Three days ago? I don't know the company, but I'd say it's a little soon to be freaking out.

Nope not a little soon, just called a number that was associated with my transaction that was not on their website and a guy answered who was part owner and said they are no longer in business. He said he will take care of getting my money back though, I hope!

Exactly what I was thinking...

If they are local go pound on their door. Find out what building they are renting/leasing form and contact the management company and ask for details as to the lease holder of the suite they are/were in and track it back to the leasee's home address and bang on his door.

I definately will be doing that if I dont hear from them soon. They are only like 40 miles away. I guess I should not have been lazy and just drove up there or called first. Oh well, I will check around before buying from an online company that isnt well known.

as was said it might be a little early to get crazy but a lot of times you can find some good information on people by checking the domains whois information.... just a thought....

Well I have already found out they are no longer in business, so I dont know if its too early to start worrying about getting $70 back or not.

This is exactly why I don't mind paying a few bucks more buying something from a place like summit, or pay with PayPal that has some protection.

Thats what a normal business minded person would do anyway, shows a lot about them and why they probably went out of business!

I hope it does and up a ecobit situation. I lost 200 from ecobit he did the same thing went out of buisness but kept taking cash on his web site.

I have bought alot of stuff from them and never had a complaint. I'm sad to see them go.

I dont doubt they were a good company but it is dumb that they would go out of business and not close their website. I still have not gotten my money back and I will give it until tomorrow before I call again.

EDIT: I guess I learned my lesson to stay with some of the big companies.

Well it is now october and this asshat has not returned my money. I have called him once a week since it happened and he has said he will do it. And the last time I talked to him he said he would send a check because it wasnt working online. I am about to go to where he lives and .......... you get the picture.

Update- Still havent received a dime from him! Called him 14 times today until he finally answered and said he just finally got a job and he has been employed. Stupid ass hat! I am unemployed too, thats why I need MY money back :angry1:. Told me he would mail me a check tomorrow, so if it doesnt show up this week I will just call him every hour every day to remind him :wink1:.
