I am going to install a turbo setup from 6.5 on 6.2. I am sure that oil commimg from the turbo is really hot and was thinking of adding a small cooler between turbo and where the oil enters the engine again. Are there any reasons not to do it?
You dont want any restriction in the turbo drain because if it does not drain freely, it will ruin the seals in the turbo. Turbos might be fed by a pressure line , but they drain based on gravity.
The oil will be okay. It can handle the momentary heat. Just plumb it with a good clear drain to the pan. Use a normal oil cooler with the supply/return fittings from just above the filter.
