I need to stop my truck from leaking. Looks like it is going to be a oil pan gasket, front & rear seals, valve cover gaskets and oil sender.

This is a K30 crew cab with first gen 454. I crawled under it last week and it looks like the pan has a very tight clearance to the engine cross member.

Will the pan come off without raising the motor? Any other tips?

it is pretty tight but I found that if you lift up the engine in the front you can slide it down and out toward the rear of the motor. First time I did it I positioned a bottle jack and a block of wood under the harmonic balancer and jacked it up to provide enough clearance. Second time I unbolted trans crossmember and had a floor jack under there, and then hooked up my cherry picker and unbolted the engine mounts. using the jack and hoist togther I safely created more than enough room under the engine without disconnecting everything. I obviously had more tools available the second time around! Oh, loosen up the fan shroud too!

That is pretty much what I though........and was afraid of. :doah:

I have a hoist so no biggie.....just more work than I wanted to do.

Thanks.

its not that bad really. the front oil pan gasket that goes between the pan and your timing chain cover will become your new nemesis though. What a pain those things are.

felpro one peice oil pan gasket is awsome. seals great and you cannnot over tighten it since it has sleeves in the rubber for the bolts to bottom out against comressing the gasket the correct amount.

makes me want to pull mine and change it again... almost.

Ok on the 454s what you really want to do is unbolt the headers/starter take out bellhousing bolts remove hood hook up chery picker undo motor mounts lift out motor, Clean it up pull apart put nice big cam in there do a 3 angel valve job through some new bearings in there mabey bore it with some new pistons, Flip it upside down and you can really get to the pan gasket! You will have no leake and that new cam will sound great!

Haha.....

So what you are saying is I should have done all that when I yanked the motor from the first truck to stick into the second.:doah:
