oil pressure low

You could always replace the oil pump w/ a high pressure pump. http://www.summitracing.com/search/Part-Type/Oil-Pumps/Make/CHEVROLET/Engine-Type/V8/Engine-Size/5-7L-350/Oil-Pump-Pressure/High-pressure/Oil-Pump-Style/Wet-sump/Engine-Family/Chevy-small-block-Gen-I/Year/1987/?Ns=Rank|Asc those are all high pressure pumps for your engine, whether you want high volume or standard would be up to you.

On another note I ran my 350 with pretty much no oil pressure for over a year while saving $$, and building my big block. I spun it up pretty good one day and after that it never had the pressure it did before. Busted some rings, no compression in 2 or 3 cylinders. Ran it for almost a year like that. At redlights it sounded like a diesel knocking and carrying on.....the worst was when I had a guy next to me at a redlight say "I used to have one of them 6.2's it ran forever". I just looked at him and said "its a 350" The look on his face was priceless.

With all the carnage that engine had (you could hold the bearing up to the light and see through em when I pulled it apart) it had 30-40psi cold idle, 20-25 running down the road once hot, and 0 hot idle. I was also running 20w50 and a bottle or two of the lucas oil stabilizer to thicken it up some more.

I had a TBI 350 that was at about 0psi at hot idle in gear. that was with 20-50 kendall in it.

If your engine has 180K on it, dont expect anything to get better magicly. I wouldnt waste the money on replacing a pump either. Ive never heard of a SBC oil pump failing and I know quite a few others on here will agree with that.

If you drive nice, you might be OK for a year or two maybe.
