Oil Pressure Problem!

buddy o mine's got a 02 gmc z-71, his gauge will peg out so he'll shuter down. starts it back up and itll run low psi then itll vary a while. whats going with it. opinions appreciated.

I don't know much about the newer trucks, but I would suggest he replace the pressure sender and see if that clears it up. Start with the small easy things, brother!!!

Take out the oil pressure sender and hook up a stand alone oil pressure gauge and see what it says.

newer trucks have dash cluster gauge problems. best check with dealer to see if its under recall or tech bulleten for problems.

What he says. And if it still acts screwy......nuke it from space, it's the only way to be sure.

Some of the newer oil pressure senders are tied with the low oil pressure fuel shutoff. Pull it and it won't run.
