it will be narrowed like this \ / but it will start behind the shortened top and wall that I've yet to build. If only I lived in warmer climates I could have skipped alot of this. Basically I wanted to be able to wheel it in the winter yet and take the kids along so 4 seats inside was a must as well.

I don't forsee any major snags. It won't narrow as far though considering I have a shorter span to do the narrowing but I think it should still go as far as the front or close.

Yeah, there will be a wall that basically would simulate what the tail gate used to be. Probably inch tube frame with 18 ga. on each side with some sound deadening inside. I think I will use plexi or lexan for the rear window. It won't go up and down anymore but don't really need it to. Top is light enough now I can remove it by myself so I won't have to dread removing it and then putting it back.

My narrowing behind my half cab on my old K5. Ugh once you cut you just can't stop.... Been getting tempted to narrow the new one, and I haven't even trimmed the fenders yet. The only thing is, I wasn't planning on running a sealed up top with the narrowed rear, how do you plan on running your cage through the top? or are you not going to run bars down to the back?

There will be bars in the back probably like door bars except going backwards from the main hoop. then x braced in front of the rear wall. Then some tubes will go through the back wall as high as possible yet still under the window and turn down to the frame. This is where my radiator will sit inbetween and under these bars and the spare will be on top of the cage bolted down. Started fabbing the rear wall today. It's a little more complicated trying to keep the top removable. I think when the top comes off the glass will come out with it. If you wanted to just remove the glass/lexan I will have to remove the top or at least take it loose and slide the window out of its track.

In the winter when me and my dad were going to weld a piece in to strengthen the rear by the tailgate, we made a wall thing out of plywood, and used a spare furd rear window on it. So it basically would have looked like a short box if the plywood was painted to match. It didn't keep water out though /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

OK, here some progress photos.
Needs some weather stripping yet.
Should be able to get the wall skinned out and sealed up tomorrow. Then I can figure out the window. Thinking about some kind of flush mount setup. Haven't really made up my mind yet.

Thanks. Took alot longer to do the top than I had anticipated. Body work sucks. Once the wall is skinned I can start the rear narrowing. Won't be long now /forums/images/graemlins/woot.gif

I saw one done similar to yours but the guy modified the old tailgate with the power window for the bulkhead. It did not look like much more work than where you are at now and he was able to have the rear window up or down using stock parts. His bulk head was a little closer to the original cab?? The top you have made looks great!!
How small are your kids? The back seat in Wimpy is half way back the bed? I guess I'm askin where are ya puttin the back seat?
By the way, that's some excellent fab work you're doin. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif Wish I had the time and money at the same time to do stuff like that.

The back seat will be two seperate seats facing the center of the truck for leg room. I have roughly 28" of space between the back of the front seats and the rear wall. I have some really slick seat brackets located. The seat automatically springs back up when not in use. They also come with their own seat belt installed so they should work nicely. When the kids aren't in the back they are up out of the way.
