And this one is a done deal. No drama here. Bought it from Noel Chadbourne's (Dozer) son. It's not the 1991 V30, but I'm tired of looking and the last bit of drama killed my desire for the hunt. Besides, a 1990 is close enough. I can get a 4L80E for it if I want.

454 from '92 'Burb, about 92K miles, 60/70, TH400 w ~5k miles, 205. 6" lift with 315/75/16's (35x12.50)

My plans are 8" BDS springs up front, 4" BDS srpings out back with DIY4X shackle flip. 13/38-16 TSL's. Cross over steering, new carpet, a little body work, new paint, newer silverado take out seats, interior needs some work etc.

And here's a bunch of pictures-

Jeez did any 89-91 V3500s not come with the burgandy interior

Same exact interior as my 89. There must have been a surplus of it.

Nice lookin pick-up Joe! :D

Congrats! Nice rig man!! :waytogo: After reading about your last debacle nobody deserves a break more than you do. I have seen even fewer GMC variations of these trucks so maybe you came out ahead after all.

The 1991 I almost had was some kind of nasty lookin orange/brown color. But you are right to be frustrated...I had a quick look on ebay yesterday for take out seats. Didn't see one set of late model seats in maroon/red. All tan/gray/black etc.

Also, I was lookin at the carpet kits the 4 Wheel Parts sells, they actually have one for the crew cabs at a reasonable (i thought) price. Anyone know anything about them?

Seems like a reasonable price for replacement carpet. Thats the bad thing about mine. Minus a rip in the driver side of the seat my interior is almost perfect, but I dislike it very much!

thats a bad ass truck Joe.
congrats man.

Un-fortuneatly, the truck is just gonna hang out at my gramps place for the next 6 months till I get back to the states. Fortuneatly, Eddie, the seller, has been more than willing to take and send me pictures of whatever I want.

Cool story about finding this truck. Originally it was owned by a member of my club, Nor-Cal Off Road. He had it for sale on our clubs forum. I found the ad and wanted to buy it, but he had sold it a few months earlier and had never updated the post. Fast forward to after the drama with the last one...Eric M on here, posted a craigslist add for the same truck for sale again by the new owner. I immediately emailed about it, the reply back was "is this kidjethro?" Which kinda threw me for a loop. Couldn't figure out how a random criagslist guy new who I was. Turns out he's Noel's (dozers) kid and I had wheeled with him, his dad, Ken(crwlin73) and willyswanter at the hammers in '06. It's a small world for sure.

Some pictures from that trip-

Eddies truck is/was the narrowed brown K5 on 46" claws.

I always liked this one...I was leaning into my truck trying to get something out of the console when Jason just drove up and parked on my rig. :)

Eddie just sent me these yesterday-
Me and my rig in the background, Dozer in the foreground. Great pic.

Why not just find an 87' to 90' SRW or DRW crew cab and run a Gear Vendor Over/Underdrive unit. Why the spicific need for a 91'? the 4L80E & D70? My 2000 (last of that body style) crew cab 1 ton 3500, 454, 4x4 1 ton 4.10 gear truck was terrible for pulling trailers. Hauling a 18ft toy box trailer, I had to run way to fast to keep it in the torque of the motor in Drive, so I would run 2nd gear climbing grades and just maintain a slower speed.

If I went to Drive I had to be going faster then I wanted and should have to keep it pulling. Don't tow in OD anyways. I think a better setup it a TH400 with a GV OD/UD unit. The drop in torque and RPM from second to drive was way too much. OD is just for freeway driving with no load and street driving of course.

I think having half the rpm drop between the gears with a GV unit plus having that gear over drive or still an OD for a TH400 would be bad ass. Those year trucks are easier to find by alot. Thats what I'm going to run in my 89' crew cab. I don't care about cost of the GV unit. Whatever, I will buy it.

Sounds like somebody made that suggestion in the other thread. MUST have been a good idea :D :haha:GOOD for you man, I hope your happy. You should be, it's a nice truck.

Right on Joe! Good looking truck, plus it's got memories already attached.
It was good seeing all you guys out doing what you enjoy, the video rocked!
