Ok, I found another one.

WooHooo! After a couple weeks of stupid bank issues, she finally sits at home in my gramps driveway. :D:pimp1:

My buddy went to pick it up for me yesterday, sent this email to me about it today-
Subject- I ran out of gas!

Well it's a powerful truck. It has one hell of a death wooble! I'll send pics and video tonight

Ha! Death wobble...hopefully the springless steering arms and bronze bushings take care of that.

And I've got to thank doonjumper (steve) for his part in all this. This wouldn't have been possible without his help. I've never met the guy in my life, he handled $3600 cash for me, after having to deposit the check into his account, wait for it to clear, and then deposit the cash into the sellers account at a different bank. (looong story) I was understandably nervous about letting a guy I've never met face to face handle this much cash for me when I'm 8k miles away and powerless to do anything about it if it went bad, but Steve handled everything for me with honesty, respect, trust and without a hitch, all the while putting up with my constant emails and pm's. There are still some good, honest people left in this world. :saweet::usaflag:

Nice pics. Good memories. RIP to the men. Nice score on the 30. Cool that you have a rig to cherish even more memories with.

Hi-jack: What size tires on it currently and how much lift? What brand are the aluminum rims? Just want to get ideas to compare for my '87 dually.

Ya, I'm pretty damn happy with how this has turned out. Everyone is happy. :D

It has a 6" lift, tires are 315/75-16= 35x12.50's. And I have no idea who makes the rims. I'll see if I can get my buddy to take a closer look see. :wink1:

Stoked for ya man, very nice looking rig. So what are your plans for it? Tow rig, wheeler, DD all around truck???

Not gonna be a wheeler. An occasional fire road or dirt trail would be about it. I have an '04 Nissan Frontier for dd duties, although this truck will be capable of pulling dd duty. Tow rig, mall crawlin, pavement pounding tiny weener compensator mostly. :haha: 8-9" of lift with 11.00r16 Michelin XL's.

They're about 38.7 tall and 11-11.5 wide on a 6" rim. I think the tires are the last thing I need to get. Everything else is on order. To the tune of almost $4k in the last 36 hours. :eek1::eek1:

those rims look like Alcoas. Yes Alcoa makes a 16" rim for dually pickups with 8 on 6.5" pattern. I've seen them before. and they look just like that. If you look at the close up pic of the rim I'm pretty sure you can see an Alcoa symbol actually between 2 of the lugs near the bottom.

No joke.

When I came back in the Army in Jan '08 I signed up for a $35k bonus. I got $10k up front, which actually worked out to be $7100 after taxes. The rest is payed out in yearly payments of $5k. My first payment came last year when I was still in the states. $3200 after takes. I just got the second one 2 days ago...Since I'm in Iraq now, that one was the full $5k, tax free. :saweet: That is how I'm able to do this right now. And I'll be able to do it every year till 2014 atleast. I think next years payment will be spent on a 12v Cummins swap.

I was lookin at the same thing...I have no idea what an Alcoa symbol looks like though.

They do look like Alcoa's, but Alcoa usually has a very prominent logo somewhere on the rim. I didnt see one in the pic, but the bottom is kinda blocked by the lugnuts. Here is a pick of the Alcoa logo

I've got Alcoa's on the floor in my shop waiting for tires to go on my dually. They don't have any emblems or casting like Joe's in the pics. But mine do look similiar like his though. They just have a stamping of words and letters along with the Alcoa emblem on it, too.

Awesome! This is the exactly same lift size and tire size I'm looking to fit on my '87.

Is there any spacers between the rear rims? And how many inches is the space between the rear tires?

I was pretty sure they weren't actual Alcoas, just look alikes.

The previous owner said he thinks it has 2" spacers, and from the pictures he sent, I would agree, kinda looks like a spacer in there. The gap looks to be less than an inch.

yeah thats a spacer in there, i had to put one for my 33x12.50s.
i cant wait till i put on my TSL SXs in the 36 inch flavor. :D

Well, my buddy took some small video clips with his phone and sent them to me. Probably not as interesting to you guys as it was to me...but I'm posting them anyway.

He also had a few comments after driving it around a bit-

Well it's a powerful truck. It has one hell of a death wooble! I'll send pics and video tonight.

This thing rips. The motor is strong. It scoots. That death wobble only kicks in with slight brake pressure when your at the 35 to 45 mph and when your flying through congested intersection in Sac. I swear I was able to have one tire in the yellow and one in the white for much of the ride on 20. I have to hit the library. Write back when you get this. Raaaaa

It doesn't pull to either side but there is a **** load of free play in the steering. More than 90 degrees. Which means in the middle of an "s" curve you change from steering from one direction to the other and you need to turn the steering wheel +180 degrees before you get responce at the wheels. Yeah it turns sharper to the right. The gas pedel stick when you press on it but let's off just fine. That makes it hard not to peel out in gravel. I kept applying pressure the the pedel and finaly it gives and drops half way to the floor. Vrooom! It's like having a 2500 stallspeed tq converter. So I was forced to drive like an asshole; the gas is either on or off. Shift lever jumps 3 inches when you hit the gas. Says it's in neutral when it's in drive.
Aside from the minor **** I mentioned it's solid. Interior, stereo, and smooth ride are all good. It don't matter to Jesus.

Sounds like a few minor details will need attention, but nothing major...yay!!

Warped rotors right there. Anytime it wobbles during braking is the rotors. Mine does it.

Already order your interior stuff dude. I got carpet from this place http://www.automotiveinteriors.com/ The carpet is ACC carpet. Looks very nice, just got it today!

I also got the matching lower door panels carpet with vents. might have to go put them together tonight since my wife stole my keys today and I can't go anywhere!!!!

I might have some left over interior stuff if you need anything dude, just let me know

Sounds like a solid motor, awesome!

Ok, I know this is obviously a Ford, but it's pretty much the only picture I could find of a dually on 11.00r16 Michelin XL's. This is pretty much what I'm going for with mine, minus the blue oval of course. :)
