vtblazer submitted a new Build:

Old Guy/New Ride

This is more of a 'sayin hey' to the boys (old friends) thing than posting up a build thread but perhaps those who remember me will jump in and say hello.

Maybe I should change my user name to vtlandcruiser :D

Coming from the birth of my love of 1st gens, I went a little sideways this time and picked up a '75 FJ40 LandCruiser, just thought I'd share.

Very cool to see you back, Kurt. :waytogo:

Awesome to see ya with a new rig. Hopefully you'll still drop by the 1st gen section tho. :D

Yes welcome back. Yea I have always liked those. Chevy V8 swap is not too hard either.:waytogo:

6.0/4l80/Orion already on the wish list :thumb:

Welcome back! But I think that thing is stuck. ;)

Hahaha...almost

All it took was throwing a couple logs in the ruts and I was out.

In truth I'm pretty surprised how well it goes, I guess being way under 4K lbs compared to over 6K lbs has it's advantages.

Thx for the welcome!

oh man Fj40 yah welcome back and congrats on the new ride.

I really don't think I have ever meant anyone that knew what an FJ 40 was that didnt' like them

Pics will follow

The FJ is under going a winter face lift....

*Front shackle reversal and longer shackles thrown onto the existing 2.5" front lift springs. (castor corrected)
*Which mandated a new set of 4" lift springs for the rear unless I wanted to run freakin' 10" long shackles back there, the 4" springs allowed me to run equal length shackles as the front has and maintain a nice level stance.
*FJ60 steering conversion, this gets rid of the whacky stock steering set up and uses two less TRE's - plus it gets the steering box up and out of the way as the new box mounts on the frame rail tucked out of harms way in the engine bay.
*New heavy duty steering linkages.
*Later model F3-EFI engine out of an 88 to replace the stock carb'd version.
*New PRP seats and harnesses mounted to the DOM tubing structure that'll tie the seat mounts/4-point harness mounts/roll cage points and soon to be made rock sliders all together.

With luck I'll score a new set of bead lock wheels w/36" rubber too :waytogo:

What happened to your old rig?

Martin

Which one...?
Had three K5's over a fairly short time span.

The restored green '72 K5 was sold in order to move forward into off road fun.
The blue '70 K5 was built, wheeled and also sold to move forward towards a combination of the former two rides.
The orange K5 (Agent orange) was sold when I became a divorce statistic.:dunno:

Pics of a yota build if there's any interest...

Front shackle reversal with inch & 3/4 longer shackles over stock.

The new height up front mandated a new set of 4" lift springs in the rear if I wanted to be able to run equal length shackles, pics are how it sat after all was said and done.

Tires are 35's :dunno:
