Old trucks never die they just change owners.

Yep used em on the dip sticks too, gotta have protection ya know. Zip ties secured them, they are still there. So if you see an expended condom floating down a river, think of me:D.

Dammit! Twisted my frame!

Twisted my frame, joy! How much do yall think it'll cost me to have a shop straighten it? Rein-enforce it?

I also got my shattered windshiled replaced and replaced my power steering pump. Any optinions on rear 56 inch springs and front 52 inch springs? Are they a worthwhile swap?

Filling the ps pump with water was a constant problem for me. I finally went out to the junkyard and bought a rezzy for a van with no hydroboost and mounted it on the core support. If water gets up to my hood, my ps pump is the least of my concerns.

Meh, my frame is bent into a pretzel like shape. The front horns alone are 2in difference. I just cut and modified the body lift until the hood sat level. Mission accomplished. Now if you really twisted it up, there are some shops that can straighten it.

Where are you swapping the springs too?

springs

Shop is going to have it all weekend. I hate trusting people with my vehicles, mostly because their frame straightener is union. Makes me wonder, I really shouldn't be so cynical but just a habit of mine. It seems the more mechically inclined I become the less I trust other people with.my stuff. Or maybe I can tell more when I am being bs'ed.

I just bought some 3/4 ton rear springs that are 56 inches in length, I was thinking about putting those in the rear of my truck and putting the rear 52 inch springs up front. Right.now I have about a 6 inch lift front and rear appoximatly.

The 56s in the rear would be good, I like them over 52s anyday. But you might as well buy ORD/DIY flip kit and go that route over moving the factory stuff. And I max out my 14in travel shocks with 47in (stock) springs just fine. I wouldnt recommend the 52 fronts unless your looking for hella droop and flex. I dont see the need in them, as the trade offs of approach angle, and they break down sorta quickly, not worth it to me. If I was you, I would get the 56s in the rear, and have ORD make you a 49in or 50in front springs and you will outflex the 52s, and have a smoother better riding pack abeit for more money.

Spring questions.

I have a shackle flip already. I am going to update my sig to reflect this.

If I put my rear 52 inch springs with 4" of lift on the front, I should potentially have 8 inches of lift right?

If I put the rear 3/4 ton springs w/the 4 inch shackle flip in I should stay around 6"?

Or should I just run what I have?

Frame is fine, it was 1/2 inch low on one side. I had it measured. Well the parts for the winch showed up and I put it back together. Have not tried it under power but the engage/ free spool seems to be working fine. They did take a while to get to me, but the parts and shipping was free so I cannot knock that. Right now I am running a warn 9.5 ti in the front, thinking of keeping it up there. Had to trim the top of my A-bomb to make it fit but I made it work. Some pics of winch I fixed.

Got my radio working again. Reattached the antenna. This weekend I found out how ridiculously well Boggers work in the mud.:thumb: I literally went wheeling almost every day this weekend, my power steering pump is starting to really hate me. I plan on getting/building hyroboost soon and mounting a york compressor that I have sitting around.

So I ended up going with redneck ram for hydro assist. I tried tapping the casting, and after 2 separate steering boxes. I went with the diy 4x caps. They worked perfectly! Had my buddy weld up my tie rod and we made a mount that attached to my diff cover.
I also built a onboard air setup using a toyota AC compressor. I have not plumbed in a tank yet and have not field tested it yet.

Last trip I hit a couple of mud holes, that were mostly filled with clay. I got stuck in one, then the levee broke...lol. Some jackass in a jeep flooded me.

Yes I stayed in it the entire time...

We got it out. Turned off the engine before the water level got too high.

Crawdad got stuck in my firewall and that tad pole was still alive. Pulled the plugs cranked over the engine. Changed out the starter. Drained the water from the oil pan. Fired up like a champ.

Got towed to advanced auto parts along the way my truck started shaking violently. Turns out I broke a 35 spline stub in that hole which seized in the spindle and destroyed my warn lock out on the drivers side.

So I got towed home. Winch motor was destroyed and the solenoid went, luckily those were covered under warranty again. Good times.

Well I was driving down the road and it started pulling to the left. Limped it back home, right hub was hot. Took apart said hub, little pieces of bearings fell out. outer bearing was seized on spindle. Replaced bearings, cleaned up spindle. Glad I caught it early. Wheeling this weekend, in Albany ga.
Goal is to make it there under my own power and back again.

Rear bumper build pics!

Ok so me and my buddy started building a rear bumper. I bought some scrap from a steel yard, plate, pipes, and c-channel. I also bought a fabrication kit from EMS offroad. With 2 shackle mounts.

Took a whole lot of time to build that thing so far! Still working on the swing away tire carrier, I am excited that I will have an actual "trunk" area behind the rear seats. The goal is to make it like this:

Although I think this is much beefier than what those guys made. Also we are using pipe instead of square tubing. I am planning on mounting a 37 inch hummer tire.

Why did you mount the receiver tube below the bumper? It is going to hang up on every thing.

Martin

Hang up? You mean like a 14 bolt? If I have an issue I can always move it.

It is my first attempt at a bumper.

Blew a gasket while towing.

So I blew a head gasket heading down to fl while I was towing a jeep. My buddy hooked up his little 1980's Toyota and towed my truck and my jeep at the same time. how embarrassing.

So a carbed 383 is going in now. The 700r4 is getting some upgrades. Hopefully I can get a new transfer case also.

Engine issues

So while we were tearing down previously built 383 we found that a wrist pin had slid itself out of the piston and gouged the cylinder wall. So I found another block and we trimmed it to fit the 400 connecting rods. Just to be safe we replaced the rod and weight balanced it on a scale. I plan on running a holley 600 for a bit. Here are some more pics. The new block is a 2 bolt main but I think it will work for the time being.

I like to go through water and I keep thinking that eventually that computer is going to drown. I can always go back to tbi, I was also thinking about propane down the line.

I can always go with a 454 tbi setup but the parts are free. I traded a jeep that I fixed up for this previously used 383 and upgraded 700r4 and the labor to install them. My buddy's uncle is doing the majority of the labor.
