92yamaha submitted a new Build:

Ole' Blue (84 K10) My First Car

So...I figured it was about time I post something about my other project.

1984 K10. Purchased October 10th, 2002 for $2,000. I was 14 and this was my first car. Saved up for this since elementary school.

When purchased:
350 Checker Auto smog crate engine
SM465/NP208
10 bolt front, 12 bolt rear (6 lug) 3.73
33x12.50r15
Mostly stock, nearly 200k miles. Bent frame (wrecked twice, I know all the previous owners).

Now:
ZZ4 Crate Engine
14 bSF rear, 10 bolt 8-lug front, 4.11
Whole new interior
Steering box brace
Power Suburban doors
Exhaust
Roll Bar w/lights
Push Bumper w/lights
New grill
315/75r16 Generals
Basically, new or rebuilt everything but the transmission and transfer case.

Future:
3rd Gen SBC
NV4500/NP241c
14bff/D60 4.56. Detroit rear, ARB air front.
ORD coil over kit front and rear
37" tires

This picture was the day I bought the truck.

Still back in high school. You'll notice the difference in wheels. After blowing up the 12 bolt for the 2nd time (clutch drops and speed-shifting), I bought, rebuilt, and installed a 14bsf in the rear. I had no clue there were 2 different 14 Bolts and also had no idea how to check for gear ratios. So for 3 years I ran with 4.11 rear, 3.73 front.

This was an attempt at flexing (she's all stock).

ZZ4 crate engine. This was in my grandfater's 78? K10 when he spun a cam bearing. He gave me the engine. I rebuilt the whole thing...then spun a rod bearing 6 months later. It's been rebuilt again and has about 30kmi on it.

This is the gauge cluster my father made for it. He used exhaust pipe and a piece of sheet metal (clearly). He hollowed out the factory bezel and mounted this panel in place so it used all the factory hardware and mounting. His only regret was that he didn't realize at the time that the panel slopes away from the driver as it moves down. Otherwise, it turned out amazingly well. I love it.

The bow-tie is a wingnut for an air cleaner. He recessed it and built a box around it that holds one of the stock GM gauge lamps, so when the headlights are on, this thing lights up.

My father and I swapped Astro van bucket seats into the truck (very...very custom seat brackets). I put a 12" subwoofer between them and my father built a custom center console to go on top of the subwoofer box (he's pretty skilled in upholstery). The other picture is the CR Lawrence power rear slider (got it for free, otherwise, it's pretty dumb, haha).

Just some pictures of the truck on the trail. I've taken this on a ton of easy trails, and harder ones to include Wheeler Lake, Hackett Gulch, Red Cone, T33a, and others.

More offroading (most waiting for my friend's F150 to cool down, lol).

These are the "unistrut skid plates" that got me so much crap during my initial post, haha. As ghetto as they are, they were meant to be a temporary solution when my friends decided to go from an easy trail to Red Cone with only 2 days notice. They've now been on there for 3 years and still holding up very well. I'll worry about a real solution at a later point, but for now, they actually work very well. Let the funny comments roll ;-)

This 6.0l I pulled for the truck. Still not sure if it will make its way into this truck or my Blazer.

This reminds me of my first truck, beat that poor truck up and ended up rolling it.. still drove it home.
Keep on keeping on....

More interior pictures and my anti-theft solution to the subwoofer. 2 U-bolts on each side, nuts inside the box, chained to the seat tracks.

My temporary solution to a broken hood latch cable. This was a bitch. Why is the hood release cable on the interior anyway? Was there a rash of stolen PCV filters in the 80s?

Offroad damage. Was wheeling up near Allenspark, CO. lost all steering. I was able to drive it directly forward into a clearing, off the trail. Got into my friend's truck, drove all the way back to Aurora. Picked up a knuckle from a fiend, tons of tools, jack, generator, lights, etc. Wheeled back to the truck and tore apart the axle, swapped the knuckle, and drove it out.

Scary part was, all the play the steering has always had was gone once I hit pavement. If you look at the sheared studs, they are rusty. This may have been bad for a long time. Luckily it failed on the trail and not at 60mph up Peak-to-Peak.

There's no great way to take a picture of these, but it's close enough.
