Enjoy this while you can, because displacement on demand is going to make a return /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif . Whats that you say? Well it was absolute disaster when Cadillac tried it, and it'll be a disaster again. Fuel and Spark are shut off to certain cylinders in light load situations in an attempt to improve mileage. It was marketed as the greatest thing since sliced bread when it actually stacked up to about as high as $hit in an outhouse.
They come out with more modern miracle crap every year. V-6s and front wheel drive were supposed to the wave of the future. Now in-line motors are making a return and the new Montes and Malibus may possibly be rear-wheel drive. I guess this isn't really a rant on the styling, but new cars in general. Give me solid front axle and save the heated leather sets for the cadillacs rather than trucks. The mob always rules when it comes to vehicle design and they are catering to all the light weights who think they need a truck to go to the mall in. I've seen station wagons, mini-vans, and now trucks as being the hot item. It'll all blow over soon enough, hopefully along with frivalous features and inflated price tags (doubt that though).
