I've been trying to decide how to drive my York compressor. I have a serpentine belt setup on a 90 Jimmy, and need a V-Belt to drive the compressor. I've seen the combo alternator pulley, but would rather come up with something a little cheaper. While looking at an 85 Z-28 I saw it had a v pulley that nested with the serpentine crank pulley, which is narrower than my serpentine belt. Anyone know if I could nest that v pulley with my serpentine pulley?
 
Not sure if this is what you are talking about but Kilby makes a serp belt pully for the York compressor. Check it out on their website.
 
I installed a serp pulley on my York and bought the bracket kit from Kilby before his prices went through the roof about 4 or 5 years ago.
 
if your not running a/c you can mount it where the factory compressor is. thats how i have it set up on my 92 s-10
 
Thanks for the responses. I probably will have to bite the bullet and buy the combo pulley or convert my york to a serpentine pulley. I hoped maybe I could scrounge something a little different. :laugh:
 
Yeah, much of the mid-80's GM car stuff was "semi serpentine".

I'm running it on my truck. Would be easy to add another accessory with a V-belt.

I believe the "semi serpentine" setup is a 5 groove pulley, while true serpentine is 6 groove. Only way I can see to run V with serpentine is like GM did. You'll need to get a complete setup though (thirdgen.org classifieds come to mind) as I had a real hard time trying to get pulleys to line up before finding a car that had everything on it. Ended up using the car PS pump as well.
