ONE BIG JIMMY "Everything In TX Is Bigger!"

True but I called Kurt and he sent me what I was needing after I told him what I was doing.
I really did not measure them after I spoke with him. But they worked out so I'm good.

Started to look at the front shackle hanger bushings and they where about to fall out I guess I should replace them as well. Once again Kurt was the call on that one. The kit he sent me was awesome had everything I needed.
They looked like they would do the job. Had to make the hole a little bigger in the frame for them to fit but no problem doing so just marked it up and steady as I go with the grinding stone bit and they went right in. I know that several people have done it with a holes saw but my experience with a hole saw over the years are that they are not the precise.

Ok here is what I ended up doing in the axle department.
I had a M1028 CUCV laying around that I had parted out except the stuff I wanted to keep and the axles where definitely staying.
So that will give me the DANA 60 and the 14BFF with 4.56 gears and Gov Locks for now. Which I think is a pretty good start for what I'm going to end up with.

I ordered some rough country 6" springs for the front. Probably not the best spring out there but I have run them before and had really good luck with ride quality and did not get a bunch of sag over time. Hopefully they are still made the same way :dunno:

My buddy Russ had these Rancho torque arms laying around so we decided that that we needed to make them work.
I ordered axle tabs Ballistic Fab instead of doing a bolt on axle clamp for the arms to mount to the axle.
I know that this torque arm kit was originally for a 2001 Chevy truck but it was the whole kit except for the bushings and I know we can make it work.
Now all we have to do is some test fitting and and order the bushings and we should be in business.

1028 axles will have a Detroit Locker in the rear and a Power Lock limited slip in the front. No Gov Locks in sight.

Well said I took the easy route out on that one!
You caught me! I will be more technical next time. :doah:

me thinks he was trying to give you good news, not correct ya... :D

the body looked pretty clean, plans for that?

As far as the body it is at the painters right now I did decide to go with the gunmetal grey again but I went with the 99 Chevy color instead it has a little more metal flake in it than the 86 paint and I'm a huge fan of that color I have owned 3 Chevys in that color

As far as body mods nothing on the plans I really have not seen anything that I really have said I have to have that.

so, they're doing jambs and such for ya too.. cool... carry on! :waytogo:

I figured with the slight color change you'd be doing that...

so with 6"s, what size/kind of meats ya gonna run?

The body was in great shape just some door dings here and there.
I did have a good crease in the passenger door but I was able to get a door for it at the salvage yard with glass for 25 bucks so now it has a straight door for that side as well
It is a rust free truck I mean no rust at all inside and out I'm very lucky
We are going to paint the firewall and going to bed line the undercarriage with raptor coating in black

Got some covers and a pinion guard for the dana 60 and the 14BFF

Also ordered from DIY4X4 the rear disk brake conversion brackets
I like the DIY4X's better than most that I have seen do to having the holes to give you the ability of clocking the caliper to the proper location.
and they are already setup with the correct spacing for the disks. No adapters or extra spacing rings its all ready to go.

Went to the Junkyard and picked up my electric fan and an extra under hood trouble reel light.
$25 bucks I love the yards in TX

Went with the Ford windstar fan for this build. They move a mountain of air.

Don't those hang down in the way?

Not really
It all depends on what you want to do with the truck
I'm not really interested in banging it off of rocks to much so not really worried about it to much

Yep and they do not articulate with the suspension.
