Took the transmission for a bath and decided to clean it up and paint it with a low gloss black engine paint. I taped off all the I.D tags and pulled off the brackets.
I also sprayed it down with brake cleaner so that there was a better chance for the paint to adhere to the surface.
I'm pretty impressed with the way it turned out and I can tell you that the pictures do not do it justice at all.

I wanted to make the engine bay a little dressed up than what it is going to look like.
I really like the LS engine covers.
did a little research and was able to order the covers off of Gm parts direct.
I ordered all the parts needed. Nuts, Bolts, Brackets Everything. I am going to use the factory air cleaner and tubing to make all this work.

The only thing that I do not like about GM parts direct is that the freight charges are so damn high that its almost like going to the dealer to get what you need and they take their sweet time getting it to you. But there is no guessing if they have in stock.

I also ordered the transmission dust shield since my combo did not come with it.

So, I'm trying to go for this look with the factory air box setup. Since I'm running dual batteries though I will have to make the air box come straight across and will have to move the overflow tank back or use the cucv overflow tank if it will fit. I'm a little ways off from doing all this but its on the drawing board right now.

Little thread jack but, to explain the high freight. GMPARTSDIRECT.COM is actually a GM dealer not General Motors direct. The prices they sell at are about 10% over what they pay for parts. The high freight costs are to offset what they are selling parts for. Just an FYI

Good info did not know they where a regular dealer that would explain the taking for ever to get the parts.
freight charges I have seen from them on a 200 dollar light weight order was 57 bucks
It is still a better deal than going to the local counter for me the price I was quoted where stupid

Got something in the mail today from ORD

Braided brake line kits.
I went with kit numbers:
GU30011 which is for the dana 60 / 10mm with up to a 6" lift
GU30112 long line kit for a 14 bolt with rear disc upgrade

These lines look great! Can't wait to put them on!
I have to wait though I had knee surgery last Friday and cannot put any weight on my right leg for 3 weeks

So I decided to go with A red and black scheme on the engine and trans
You won't be able to see it to much with the covers and all the goodies going on the engine but that'a ok at least I know it will look pretty good when it's done

Took the oil pan off and cleaned it and painted it
Might I add that the castings that these ls engines have on pans and covers suck
It's like fisher price my first sand castings!

I just got back from the DR and he said June 23rd before I can put weight on it. "SUCKS!!!"

But I think my buddy is going to come help me on some of this small bolt on stuff and I can sit in the roll around shop chair and get small stuff done as well
Can't keep a gear head down!!!!

Well you don't have much longer, just take it easy so you're not down longer..... I know how us gear heads are

Atleast you have someone willing to come and help out, you'll be right in it with him though. You won't be able to stand watching someone else wrench on your project.

No doubt, that's exactly what I'd be doing too.

My deployment will officially be over in 54 days. For starters I'll be mounting some new tires and hit up the pick-n-pull for parts. I need to find axles soon so I can do crossover cause my steering sucks bad with the lift and tires I have. I've got tons of honey-do's as well so not sure how much I'll get done on the blazer just yet.

Well been laid up with the knee surgery and all that fun stuff but I was able to do some research and wobble out and tinker here or there

I did get a decent deal on eBay for a factory air box setup and got it in yesterday

Needs to be cleaned up but in great shape nun the less

I did get to install the front ORD brake lines

Need to work on the rear lines a little when I can move the chassis out of the garage to play with it
