one piece front door glass, 73-87

not only that connecting piece.. but also the little bracket that keeps the skin stable by running from the lower mirror bolt over to the inner shell...

what other connecting piece is there? i just stripped and scrapped 7 doors, none of them had anything attaching the inner and outer skins together except the one below the mirror.

iirc, the one he was talking about is a sheetmetal tab right where the wing window ends.. now that i think about it, i'm not sure those 2 little tabs meet up. the one on the outer skin and the opposite one on the inner shell..

but my 87 definitely had the little bracket that runs from that bottom mirror bolt over to the bolt for the vent track on the shell.. little piece of roundbar with tabs at the end..

but now come to think of it, i don't think the 77 had that bracket with the old style mirrors.. got me thinking now, have to take a peek at it in the morn...

the three arm mirrors dont use that brace nope

only the dumbo silverado style mirrors do, IE the 79-up doors, most of them anyways, whatever year they started using the mirrors, in which im 99% it was 79, from factory

That is tempered glass and I don't think you can just heat it up to make it curve. What a huge pain this mod would be.

who said real glass ?

go read that again, check your eyes,

i said carbon glass, other plastic type glass

not real glass

im talking like carbon glass, or that other newer stuff, ive had it done when i had a 69 ford pickup(was my very first vehicle ever, i was 16) i needed a new instrument cluster lense because the original one was horribly clouded up couldnt see through it, well in the old ford trucks its a big rectangle shape and has a curve to it,

was very simple, i did it in the oven,

no, several companies dont make the conversion. in fact, only one company has come up with it, and it was within the last 6 months.

quite true. We discussed this topic about a year ago and couldn't find a single company selling the kit. We found companies selling them for the old 67-72s but not the newer rigs.

Vent windows are one of the things I really don't like about these rigs. Going from my 97 to my 89 Burb the biggest problem I had was that the window felt tiny and it felt like the mirror was RIGHT there.

I took him off of my ignore list, just to see what you were talking about. I read his typical post, put him back on ignore. I love that feature.

And, yes, I was thinking about the older bodystyle glass.

yep, it is definitely way past time to ignore a couple users on this forum

Why don't ya'll like the vent wings? I love em, gives me a place to ash when I smoke and I can open the windows up and adjust my vent window so I don't get blasted in the face with wind.

Wow, those pictures with one piece windows look GREAT, and they say they have an easy power window conversion to go with it.

I HATE wing windows, one of the worst inventions ever. They make so much freakin' noise!

I'm debating if it's 775$ worth though.

(not directed at anyone in particular, the deleted thread mentioned it though) I'm not sure if it's worth the asking price, but those saying it's too expensive, go price all the new parts that come with it. It probably wouldn't cost AS much as aftermarket seals, glass, tracks, etc., but replacing stock with stock aftermarket parts wouldn't be an upgrade, would it?

Go to that onepiece website, and download the PDF manual that has the parts inculded if you think it's "a ripoff", it's not simply a piece of glass.
