Perv!!! LOL, it is a 1977 GMC Sierra Classis I picked up from a guy in Cali, now it is on it way to Louisiana. My plans are LS3 376/525 e rod engine and a 4L85e trans. I will be replacing the wheels with some American Racing Salt flat wheels 20'' in the front 20'' in back 4 -6 static drop.

I am looking to build a clean cruiser that I can jump in drive to Cruising the Coast and the drive it home. I am shooting for good to great fuel mileage with all the creature comforts of a new truck like cruise, A/C, heat, great sound system but all in an old 1977 GMC Sierra Classic wrapper. I will be replacing the 12 bolt with a 9 inch rear, Detroit locker and big breaks all the way around. After all 500+ horsey power should move this old girl along good. I learned what not to do after the swap on my 1976 Jimmy High Sierra and this one should be fun! look for up dates soon. First thing is first I gotta get it home and spit it and see what all I will need to make it happen.

So you paid more than $6k for this nice clean specimen, and the first thing you want to do is replace the engine and transmission and wheels and tires and suspesnsion?? :dunno:

The ebay reserve wasn't met. so it must have been a sale outside ebay. Nice truck.

Yeah but bidding reached $6100, the seller ended the bidding early because the item was no longer available.
Usually that means someone offered them a sum they felt good enough about to end the bidding, it had to be more than what the highest bid was.

The question shouldn't be why, but why not?

Because there are plenty of clean trucks that have bad running gear and would be the perfect candidates, this one should be left as is and driven.:dunno:

I think that is backwards

Body work blows, id rather start with the best I can find and send that carb and low power motor back to the stone age.

Give me a 6.2 LS and 6 speed!

Clean truck:thumb:

Did you even read what you quoted?
I do what I preach, I try to find clean trucks with a bad motor or bad tranny and that way I don;t feel guilty when I change it to something better.
I got a suburban now that has clean body and interior, but the engine has a tic from the Thrust bearing, well needless to say I am taking it out soon and replacing it with something better, but my nice Chalet has a gas guzzling 400SBC that runs perfect because it only has 90k miles, and I have the diesel engine ready to go in, but I won;t do it unless someone wants to buy my 400 or it has a problem.

It would cost more then that to take a good clean truck and make it that nice to start with.:doah:

Trust me, I do know what it cost to get one that nice

It's his truck.

He could paint it pink and glue dildos to it every foot.

Why?

It's his truck.

I just don't feel guilty, it is real clean but its still just a chevy truck, if this was a special low number car I would be on the same page.
