If you look at the hinge point on the knuckles you will see that there is a cap with 4 bolts on each side, that houses the king pin.
Your D44 has a ball joint at the same location.
These axles look clean, how much if we may ask.
And as for dashes, i thought the same thing until I bought my 91 crew cab, immaculate dash, probably the only thing immaculate :doah:

Hey thanks we'll go wheelin sometime.
It's funny I remember picking up my first D60. I was a giddy school girl.

Ah thanks man, i'll have to look at that. And i got em for $1000 :deal: IMO.

Not to burst your bubble and not that it matters anyways because the rear is still a 14FF, that rear in the pic is a 3/4 ton.

Its got the smaller 11" drum brakes. The shock mounts are in the same position for a 1/2 and 3/4 ton. I won't say anything about the spring perches because I can't tell by looking which width they are.

Like I said, doesn't matter. Slap on some disc brakes and bolt it up and go. Its still no different than a true 1 ton 14FF.

Yeah ryan was telling me about that, But i never intended on using those drum brakes to begin with. I already ordered a disc brake conversion kit this last friday that should be on my door step this next friday :waytogo:. Btw are you saying that i can likely direct bolt this into my 76 k5. Im thinking of putting these into my k5 once i got the lockers installed until my race buggys ready since its gonna take a few months of saving to buy it all and i get wheeling withdrawl after 3 months or so :D.

Just measure the spring perch width from the center of the perch to the center of the other perch and if it's 42.5" then it is definately a 3/4 ton spacing and will bolt in with no mods other than a conversion U-joint.

The front D60 is a direct swap and even uses the same U-joint assuming nobody has swapped to a larger Yoke on the axle.

EDIT: Did you get the spring plates for the D60? If not you're going to need to find some.

Sweet man, I'll have to pull out my tape measure tomorrow. And i forgot to ask for the spring plates :doah: . He gave me a 50 dollar gift certificate to south bay driveline though :woot:.

I have a few sets of spring plates, no problem. Ill trade you for some 42Kevlars:D.

Now this may not hold true and fast, but every one ton 14 bolt that I have seen does not have the cast perches like that one does.

I would bet money its a direct bolt in, other than the conversion u joint

congrats

I hate all of you with perfect dashes :D

Like Wes said, those are the 11" composite drums and those were only used on 3/4 ton trucks, ALL of the 1 tons were the larger 13" drums.

Greg, knowing your going to do a rear disc swap you WILL have to replace the wheel studs with the longer ones that are used with the 13" drums.

You said you bought a rear disc conversion, who's kit is it? Once you mount the rotors to the hubs you need to machine the rotors so they are true to the hubs. I can do that for you here at the house, can even press all the wheel studs out and back in.
