One Ton hunt advice

i'm looking to try and start an axle build for my k5
goal is to get 37's or 40's on, but ive heard that the corporate 10-bolt axles i have front and rear wont be able to handle the gearing etc. that id need.

one-tons are pretty new to my but i figure id go for :
- Dana 60 front
- 14 bolt rear
question is, im seeing dana 60 and 14 bolts from difference manufacturers (i.e. ford/dodge) is there a specific manufacturer i should aim for when getting either axle?

for instance, should i try to snag a Dana 60 from a F250? or just get one GM specific from an older truck?

apologies if this is a dumb question, thanks in advance!
https://www.boyceequipment.com/dana-front-44s-60s-more-axles?lightbox=image1sb8. These guys had 4, I bought one now they have 3. They have 14blt FF GM rear if you want both... Good luck!

5k! I just saw an 84 K30 for sale with a 60 front and they didn’t want that for the whole truck and you get a T400 and NP205 with purchase!

I have an 89 with 14 bolt rear and 60 front. I am trying to go the other direction and bring it back to stock for a daily driver. We should swap! I am in So Cal. You bring the tools, the labor, and $1500 and you got 'tons!
Hi there... Don't mean to cut into the conversation rudely. I saw this post and thought I'd let you know I'm selling my original GM 10 bolt front and rear. They came with the optional 3.73 limited slip from the factory. (I have the build sheet.) I put on a new suspension a year ago and added Reid Racing knuckles, new Moog joints (spicer wasn't available at the time and CCM was too much$$), etc. I'll leave the ORD high cross steering adapter attached to the passenger side knuckle installed. No need to remove it unless it's not wanted. I'm going to D60/14FF in a month. I'm going to put them up for sale soon. I'm asking $1500 for the pair. They'll be off my Blazer by mid-September and housed at Tucson Differential in Arizona until sold.

Yeah, it's a lot. But it's cheaper than everywhere else that has them in stock. I've seen as much as 10k, complete. But, this price (at Boyce) isn't too bad completely rebuilt and refreshed. I bought a D60 with new R&P 4.88 a Detroit locker, new rotors and affiliated brake parts, new tie rod, delivered to my shop from Utah to Southern AZ for $6180 out the door - shipping will be about 250.. so, call it $6380 completely renewed. On the flip side, I bought a 2002 14FF out of a Chevy 2500 with factory 4.10and Guv Lock for 800 delivered from Phx to Tucson. I feel I saved time and money with both purchases. If I had the tools, space, time and trailer - hell yeah I'd buy some junk somewhere and do it all myself. Just can't. So for those in my same shoes this info may be what they're looking for. Tryin' to participate more, share info, learn and have a good time doing it.

Selling or buying? I'm selling my 6x5.5 Procomp Trilogy III Series 75's... Don't work with 8lug bolt pattern though, which is why I'm selling them.

@K5Devil

New guy here.. just thought I would put my .02 worth in. And a buyer beware for front 60s. Sometimes you will see 60s posted for sell and they turn out to be a dodge Dana 61. They look like a 60 have King pins like a 60 but the pinion location is in a different location to allow for higher gear ratios (numerically lower) gear selection is not the best for D61. So before paying make sure it does not ha e a 61 stamped on the cast housing. If it does walk away unless it cheap and you can get a gear ratio you want.

You can run most gear sets in a Dana 61 with the use of a spacer and thick ring gear, it’s not really as big a deal as people make it out to be, but it is something to be aware of

I'm new to the forum and don't know the protocols and things... Not certain if you intended with the reply to my post?? Forgive my ignorance on such things. Learning..
I wanted a fellow member to read your post. But I was thinking these were 8 lugs 10 bolts when I did that. I realize now they are 6 lug.
